Music For Life’s New EP “Cookin’ As One” Hit #7 On The iTunes Reggae Chart

Austin-based reggae record label, Music For Life, is in a celebratory mood after the successful release of their four-track EP, Cookin’ As One. The project, which features vocals by recording artists Sgt. Remo & Phillipidon, was published at the beginning of June; and was well received by reggae-dancehall lovers worldwide.

The team got confirmation that they have made a quality contribution to the industry when the EP hit number seven on the iTunes reggae chart last month. The imprint’s CEO R.J. Johnson, who is also the producer, was elated when he found out. He said that in addition to the news about the iTunes chart, they have also been getting a lot of positive feedback from their fans and supporters.

Celebrate Jamaica’s Independence With Marcia Griffiths, Freddie McGregor & More

On August 6th, 7th and 8th, Vitamalt (the popular Caribbean natural energy booster) will present the Jamaica Independence Jam Jam Weekend Celebration. This is both a concert and family fun day that will be held at India House; 8888 W. Bellfort Avenue in Houston, Texas.

Veteran reggae artists Freddie McGregor, Marcia Griffiths, Anthony B, Chino McGregor and Perfect Giddimani have all been confirmed and will be performing with a live band. In addition to the musical entertainment there will also be a soccer match between Jamaica and Trinidad; a domino tournament; a free kids zone and much more.

Don Carlos To Headline The Truckee Reggae Festival In August (@DonCarlosReggae)

On Friday, August 20th, Late-Nite Productions will present the Truckee Reggae Festival at the Truckee Regional Park Amphitheater in Truckee, California.

As this is the first staging of the event, they have gone over and above to feature some top-tier reggae acts. That being said, the festival will have performances by Don Carlos (Black Uhuru), Marlon ‘Ganja Farmer’ Asher, Mystic Roots Band, Two Peace and DJ Dubfyah.

Stone Love Sound’s “Hang Out Fridayz” Is Now Up & Running

Now that Jamaica’s entertainment sector has reopened, albeit partially, local promoters are busy restarting their weekly events. Uptown Mondays have already begun, and now we are hearing that Stone Love Sound has kicked off a weekly Friday affair called Hang Out Fridayz.

This is an after work party that’s being held at their headquarters at 41 Burlington Avenue in Kingston, Jamaica. Patrons will be treated to a mix of reggae, dancehall, soca, afrobeat, hip-hop and R&B.

Etana, Kiprick, Samini & Others Confirmed For Bounce Musik Fest On July 31st

Bounce Musik Festival will be held on Saturday, July 31st at the Bounce HQ, located at 5305 Snapfinger Wood Drive in Decatur, Georgia.

The show will feature several trending reggae and dancehall artists, namely: Samini, Etana, Kiprich, Delly Ranx, Ravon, Sugar Bear, KQueens, Sita and many more. Patrons will also get a chance to check out top selectors like ZJ Rush, DJ Jaime Hype, New Level, Navis Bomb, and that is just to name a few.

Richie Spice, Hempress Sativa & Others To Perform On The Uppsala Reggae Fest At The End Of July

This year the organizers of the Uppsala Reggae Festival will celebrate their 20th anniversary with a live in-person show as well as a virtual presentation on July 31st.

The virtual show will broadcast live from Jamaica via the event’s website and it will showcase performances from Big Youth, Richie Spice, Josey Wales, Alaine, Hempress Sativa and others. While the in-person show at Fyrishov, Uppsala will feature Anthony B, Million Stylez, Papa Dee, Desmond Foster, Junior Natural and many more.

Rory Stone Love, Richie B & Oliver Samuels Now A Part Of Jamaica’s Newest Radio Station “The Bridge 99FM” (@thebridge99fm)

It is now official! Richard ‘Richie B’ Burgess, a radio veteran with almost 30 years of broadcasting experience will join Jamaica’s newest radio station, The Bridge 99FM. The Bridge will begin broadcasting on Monday, July 12 with Burgess tasked with the important 6-10am time slot that is designed to get listeners up and on the go for the work day.

An interesting addition to the station’s lineup is comedian Oliver Samuels who will make his debut with ‘Sam Sam Seh,’ a 90 second commentary on current events and topical issues. This feature will run throughout the day on various programs.

The team also includes popular selector / producer Rory Stone Love.
