Admiral Tibet Performs At Roots Bamboo Beach In Negril Tonight

As they continue their month long celebration of reggae music, The Roots Bamboo Beach Hotel – located on Norman Manley Blvd. in Negril – will host reggae veteran Admiral Tibet tonight (February 18).

Tibet will be joined by Marvelous and the Hurricane Band, for what is expected to be an entertaining reggae concert. It will begin at 8pm (Jamaica time); and although it is free for everyone, only persons 18 and older will be allowed in.

Vaccinated Audience Approved For Reggae Month Concerts

The Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport has received authorization to host a limited, fully vaccinated audience for two events scheduled for Reggae Month 2022.

The first is Reggae On the Pier, which features live performances by Beres Hammond, Marcia Griffiths, Tarrus Riley, Derrick Morgan, Richie Spice, Christopher Martin and Romain Virgo. It was filmed in Port Royal on Wednesday, February 16, and will air on Reggae Month TV at a later date.

The 2nd is Sizzla Kalonji in Concert with the 35 piece Reggae Orchestra. Similarly, it will be taped on the weekend and will broadcast at a date to be announced.

Jamaica Joins Haiti In Reggae Concert Aimed At Mental & Economical Liberation

Star Shine Production, a Haiti based creative agency – in association with the Trench Town Community Trust and the Trench Town Development Association – will present an event called Trench Town Experience 2. Its objective is to generate funds for the people of Haiti’s mental and economical liberation.

It will be held at the Trench Town Culture Yard Museum, located at 6 and 8 1st Street in Kingston, Jamaica. In addition to being an in-person show, it will also stream live online for those not able to physically attend. 

Several top-tier roots artists have been confirmed to the lineup: Leroy Sibbles, Luciano, Stranger Cole, Ken Boothe, Wailing Soul, Horace Andy, Big Youth, and that is just to name a few. The show will also feature several emerging talents.

Nadine Sutherland & Judy Mowatt Will Headline This Week’s ‘Reggae Wednesdays’ (@nadinesutherlan)

This week’s edition of Reggae Wednesdays – The Diamond Series will feature an all female lineup, with Nadine Sutherland and Judy Mowatt confirmed as the headliners.

The show, which is scheduled to begin at 7:30pm (Jamaica time), will stream live on JaRIA’s social media platforms, as well as on PBC Jamaica TV.

New Date For The Annual Bob Marley Celebration In Aarhus, Denmark

On Friday, February 9th, Henzel Clarke – the chairman of Jam Link International – announced that the new date for the 2022 Bob Marley Celebration will be Friday, April 29. Although the event normally takes place in the month of February, the decision to move it to April became necessary because of covid-19 restrictions that were in place at the time of its planning. 

Aarhus’s annual Bob Marley Celebration started out in a small venue and initially featured mainly local talents; however, it has since expanded to a bigger location and has seen several international reggae and dancehall stars gracing its stage. 

The organizers are now in the process of finalizing the lineup for this year and will share that list in the coming weeks.

At the end of January Billyjoemedia Productions released The Tymeless Riddim, a seven-track reggae compilation that features Luciano, Junior X, Jalifa, Nature Ellis, Stranjah Miller, Ras Brando and Mikey Tenna.

The Timbali Players (Headed By Peppery) Will Deliver Their Modern Take On Reggae At Bristol’s Old Market Assembly On Feb. 25 (@pepperyworld @timbalisound)

Exploding on the scene in 2015, Welsh DJ /producer Timbali, with his impeccable productions and eclectic style, has become a successful figure in Britain’s reggae-dancehall. As he continues to triumph with his studio productions: the #1 single on Beatport, Killing Sound with Skarra MucciAll My Days featuring Lutan Fyah and Dead Yuh Dead sung by Peppery – just to name a few – his live shows have also led to him becoming a festival favorite.

Originally a sound-system act, Timbali has now evolved into a 6 piece reggae-dub band that is fronted by reggae-dancehall artist Peppery. Using the moniker The Timbali Players, the unit features top international musicians, and is now known and admired for their strong stage presence.

The Timbali Players will take their show to The Old Market Assembly, located at 25 West Street, Old Market in Bristol (UK) on Friday, February 25th, where they’re promising to deliver an authentic, modern take on reggae.
