Jamaica’s Virtual Concert Raised Over 50 Million Dollars! (@babsy_grange)

Jamaica’s six-hour virtual telethon, held on Sunday, April 12th, which was conceived to raise money to fight covid19 on the island, has generated more than 50 million JMD.

This event saw performances from several of the nation’s biggest artists, as well appearances by many high ranking public figures.

The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports, Ms. Olivia Grange, has announced that the telethon will be rotated to cater to the Asian and European time zones. The hope is to continue to raise funds via the website: jatogetherwestand dot com.

Protoje’s Label In.Digg.Nation Signs Deal With RCA Records (@indiggco @Protoje)

This past Monday Protoje took to social media to announce that his record label, In.Digg.Nation, has entered into a deal with American label RCA Records.

The agreement, which was facilitated by Six Course Inc., guarantees that music released by the In.Digg.Nation Collective (Protoje, Sevana and Lila Iké) will get the full support, promotional and otherwise, of the RCA team.

Dancehall Artist Aidonia Vents His Frustration After The Announcement Of St. Catherine Lockdown

After the press briefing on Tuesday night in which the Prime Minister announced the complete lockdown of the entire Parish of St. Catherine, a frustrated Aidonia took to Twitter and fired off several tweets.

The artist is clearly upset because some Jamaicans are not adhering to the stay at home orders. The following is one of the longer tweets that he posted:

“Right now nuh man nuh bring nuh fuckery to me! Ppl wid sense we a address! Government a try dem best but if we as a nation na work wid d system wah unu tink aguh happen? Like unu a wAit till dis ting get outa hand before unu see da seriousness a wah really a gwan.”

At the beginning of April the visuals for “Tribute to the I Threes,” which is performed by Shuga, Marcia Griffiths and Judy Mowatt, was released. The song, produced by Penthouse Records, is as the name states, an actual honoring of the powerful and unique unit that helped lift Bob Marley’s music even higher.

International recording artist, Anthony B, who continues to work despite all that is happening, is sharing an uplifting new single titled “There Is A Light.” The song, which was uploaded to his YouTube channel on April 10th, talks about the importance of washing hands, staying inside and above all else not giving hope.

“There Is A Light” is truly a beautiful, timely record that everyone should hear. Though it will not be available for digital download until April 17th, it can be pre-ordered now via iTunes.

Alley Bless’ Much Anticipated Video For “Rough” Is Out Now!

Arguably one of the most inspirational songs released in 2019, Rough by Alley Bless now has some visuals. The official video was uploaded to YouTube earlier today (Sunday, April 13th).

The clip, which tells the story of a single mother who goes from extreme poverty to success, was shot and edited by Maria Jackson in St. Thomas, Jamaica. Rough was written and produced by Michael Reynolds (of Sekimhaj Records).
