Beenie Man Shares Lead Single From His Upcoming Album (@KingBeenieMan)

Jamaica’s dancehall king, Beenie Man, is now giving us a taste of what we can expect on his highly anticipated upcoming album, “Simma.” Earlier today, March 5th, he shared the project’s lead single. The track, titled “Fun In The Sun,” is a positive, upbeat collaboration done with Popcaan and Dre Island.

Maria Jackson Radio To Begin Airing Live Shows In April!

Since the launch of our digital station – Maria Jackson Radio – in 2018, we’ve only been using the playlist feature. This means that there were no actual shows on the channel, only an auto DJ. We are now happy to announce that as of April, 2021 that will change!

Effective immediately a long time member of our team, Lafayette Hamilton (publicly known as DJ Solo), will be acting as the station’s Director of Operations and will be bringing a slew of new, live programs to the platform. He will also have his own show, called SOLO MOTION on Saturdays from 10 PM to 12 AM EST.

DJs interested in getting a show on the station should send an email to music@mjent.net to be connected with Solo.

Reggae Legend Bunny Wailer Has Passed Away!

It is with a heavy heart that we have to report that legendary reggae artist Bunny Wailer (also known as Jah B) has passed away. He died on the morning of March 2nd, 2021 at a hospital in Kingston, Jamaica. He was 73 years old.

Jah Bouks Shares Touching New Music Dedicated To His Grandmother (@BouksJah)

Towards the end of February Jah Bouks released a touching new song titled “Gone Too Soon.” The record, which is clearly dedicated to his grandmother – who has apparently passed away from cancer – is released on his own Angola Records label.

Emerging Dancehall Artist E.G. Shares The Remix Of “Caan Trust Dem” (@EgDaGovenaw)

Late last year Guyanese dancehall recording artist E.G. – who is now based in New York – released “Caan Trust Dem.” The hardcore street record warns of persons posing as friends, while simultaneously hoping for your demise. 

Not a hundred percent pleased with the initial mix of the track, E.G. recently went back in the booth at Heatbox Studio 56 in Brooklyn, added some additional vocals and worked tirelessly with engineer Yung Cassius to create a new sound. 

The updated mix was shared on Tuesday, February 16th.

Dancehall Artist Lion Face Shoots Video For His Single “Survivor”

On Friday, February 26th, Jackson Town recording artist, Lion Face Italawah, shot the official video for his song “Survivor.” The track, which is featured on the Mountain Top Riddim (produced by Haile Cush Records), has become somewhat of an anthem in and around the Jackson Town community (located in Kingston, Jamaica).

Survivor” applauds persons who have managed to overcome poverty, especially through hard work. 

In keeping with the message in the song, the visuals – directed by Maria Jackson – will show several inner-city youths who are committed to diligently changing their lives. It is currently being edited and will be ready for release by mid March.
