Red Rat Releases Statement Regarding The Greensleeves / Chris Brown Lawsuit

For those not in the know: a few days ago American R&B singer Chris Brown was sued for copyright infringement over his track Privacy, which was released in March 2017. He was sued by Greensleeves Publishing Ltd, who alleges that Brown ripped off Red Rat‘s 1997 dancehall hit, Tight Up Skirt; a song they claim to have the rights to.

Earlier today Red Rat released the following statement via his social media platforms:
“Greensleeve and the individuals involved in the lawsuit against Mr. Brown are not and have not been authorized by myself or anyone acting on my behalf to represent my interest. They do so without proper grounds to act.”

Damien Ceza Scores Anthony B & Turbulence Feature On His Debut Riddim “Midnight Run”

Beat-maker and producer Damien Ceza is launching his new music label, Roots Records, with the release of the Midnight Run Riddim; out now on all streaming platforms. This is a nine-track dancehall compilation that features veteran Jamaican recording artists Anthony B and Turbulence, as well as several emerging talents.

Having a strong desire to put dance back into the dancehall, Ceza began experimenting with different sounds in his Staten Island, New York studio earlier this year. He eventually ended up with a beat that has a classic 90’s dancehall sound mixed in with a touch of the modern hardcore style.

Once the beat was completed he began shopping it around to various artists and was fortune to get positive responses from both Turbulence and Anthony B; two established names that are currently trending in the reggae / dancehall industry. Damien was very careful when selecting which artists he would feature, as he is not a fan of negative and / or derogatory lyrics.

When asked why he called the riddim Midnight Run, he said the following: “My vision was to have an artist perform the title song “Midnight Run” to give the people hope of normalcy once the pandemic ended. I chose up and coming artist Itse to write and perform the track for me. I specifically featured her for several reasons. The most important reason is because she’s a very talented and inspiring female artist whose lyrics are clean and meaningful. Also, female artists seem to be missing from most of the current productions out there. I want to change what has become the norm.”

On the 17th of June, 2021, award winning recording artist Minister Taf dropped his latest EP, “Ena Minyma” (A Message). The captivating seven-track gospel-reggae project features the talented Fiona Yorke, who delivered amazing backing vocals on several songs.

The EP is produced by Jvmmie Jae and mixed and mastered by MOBO winning producer Victizzle; with visual production (artwork) from DaddioGfx. The EP can and should rightfully be described as Hardcore, Inspirational, Motivational and Captivating.

Taf, who is a Jamaican that has survived unspeakable challenges throughout his life, uses “Live My Life,” the leading track, to reach out to youths, particularly those from the inner-cities who are prone to going down the wrong path and/or falling victim to the devil and his devices.

On top of various dancehall rhythms and afro-beats, the lyricist chants about staying faithful, never giving up and living his best life.

This release is a testament to Minister Taf’s versatility as a musician and his innate talent. “Ena Minyma” offers feel-good instrumentation with a strong message that will have listeners wanting more. Taf states that whilst writing the track “Faithful” he was reminded of how faithful God has been to him, especially during difficult times.

“Live My Life” amongst others is written from personal experience and he believes his audience will be able to relate.

The journey shows good and bad of Jamaica, mostly good and how the bad turns into good.” It goes without saying that Turbulence will be playing a role, although it is not clear exactly what that will be.
