A lot of people were surprised to learn that one of Jamaica’s beloved radio personality, Elise Kelly, who left Irie FM after 29 years in 2020, is now back on the FM dial.
She launched her new show, Un-Tengle, on The Bridge 99FM at the beginning of October. The program can be heard on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10AM to 1PM (local time).
Today, Monday, October 11th at 4PM EDT, Ram Off will present Mimosa Monday, a soca event like no other. It will be held at Lallos (1400 North State Road 7) in Lauderhill, Florida.

The popular music show Verzuz will be launching a new series called Iconz on October 16th. They have selected and confirmed legendary Jamaican deejay Super Cat as the first artist to kick-off the new program.
The event will be held at the Barclays Center (620 Atlantic Avenue) in Brooklyn, New York. This will be Cat‘s first headline show in Brooklyn in many years. Click here for tickets.
Jah Bouks has just released a new reggae single dubbed Gideon. The record was shared on Friday via Culture Yard and Rootsonic Productions.

It contains 13 songs including the title track as well as gospel standards such as Amazing Grace, I Surrender All and a spiritual interpretation of The Stylistics‘ You Make Me Feel Brand New.
“From I was little I listened to some of these songs in church. My grandmother was the mother of the church and I used to be there with her all the time,”Nooks recalled.
Though his initial hit songs like Tribal War and Fortyleg Dread made him a dancehall star in the late 1970s, Nooks erupted in 2000 with God is Standing By, a foot-stomping reggae cover of a soul song originally done by Al Green in the early 1970’s.
Nooks has released a series of gospel hits since then. And even though he periodically dabbles in secular music, he says it is important to keep things clean. “I don’t do derogatory songs. I never did any song I couldn’t go into the church and sing.”
Through it All is exclusively produced by George Nooks for Tad’s Record Inc. It is available worldwide.

Jahmiel‘s latest single is a laid back dancehall / hip-hop fused track titled Mind Games. As he has done on a lot of his songs, especially the more recent ones, the Jamaica deejay laments on the inauthenticity of people. In this particular case he labels their pretentious behavior as Mind Games.
