New Edition, Lauryn Hill & Others Recognized As Trailblazers In The Industry

The Black Music & Entertainment Walk of Fame (BMEWOF) held their second induction ceremony for Black entertainers and trailblazers in downtown Atlanta in mid February.

They have inducted the following entertainers to the walk of fame: Donald Lawrence (Gospel Male), Yolanda Adams (Gospel Female), Bebe and Cece Winans (Gospel Group), Snoop Dogg (Hip Hop Male), Ms. Lauryn Hill (Hip Hop Female), New Edition (Mainstream Male Group), Mary J. Blige (Mainstream Female) and Tyler Perry (Mainstream Mogul).

All the aforementioned were honored with the unveiling of their plaques along the sidewalk on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in front of the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

At the beginning of February Capitol Records released Hate Our Love, a R&B tune performed by Queen Naija and Big Sean. As soon as it came out the song became an instant hit that continues to receive heavy radio rotation worldwide.

As a part of their Black History Month celebration, NPR Music invited the legendary Patti LaBelle and her full band to do a set for the series. The queen showed up and boy did she deliver!

She gave us: “Something Special (Is Gonna Happen Tonight),” “Love, Need and Want You,” “If Only You Knew” and “Lady Marmalade.” Regardless if you are a fan of Patti LaBelle or not, this is one concert you cannot afford to miss.

Stephanie Mills, Dru Hill, Tamia & Keith Sweat All Confirmed For The 2022 Zulu Coronation Ball

The Zulu Social Aid & Pleasure Club Incorporated will present its annual Coronation Ball on Friday, February 25. It will be held at the New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center – 900 Convention Center Boulevard (Halls G, H, and I) in New Orleans.

After the crowning of King Zulu 2022 and Queen Zulu 2022, members and patrons will be entertained by R&B heavy-weights Stephanie Mills, Dru Hill, Tamia and Keith Sweat

Importantly, guests at this year’s Coronation Ball will be required to show proof of vaccination or a (-) negative COVID-19 test taken 72 hours prior to the event. Click here to buy tickets.

Usher Announces New Las Vegas Residency (@Usher)

R&B pop star Usher has announced that he will be returning to Las Vegas with a brand new residency at Dolby Live (Park MGM) from July through to October, 2022.

Early bird tickets will be available via ticketmaster as of Friday, February 25.

New Edition’s “The Culture Tour” Kicked Off This Week!

Three powerful R&B brands: New Edition, Charlie Wilson and Jodeci, are now officially on the road! They kicked off The Culture Tour on Wednesday, February 16 in Columbia, Georgia and are now gearing up for Nashville, Tennessee on the 18th.

Shadows of the 60s – scheduled for February 25 at the Levoy Theatre in Millville, New Jersey – pays tribute to the tremendous legacy of Motown’s super groups: The Supremes, The Four Tops and The Temptations.

In this highly interactive and visually stunning production, Shadows of the 60s perform the hits that span several decades. It features top industry musicians and singers dressed in exquisitely designed costumes doing dazzling choreographed routines, with the intensity of the original recorded performances.

Each singer and musician was chosen because they embody the spirit, style and excitement of the original artists. Close your eyes and you will hear the magic of Motown, open them and you will see and feel the raw “front row” experience of attending a live Motown concert; think circa 1964. The evening is capped off with a jaw dropping grand finale featuring the music of Motown’s Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, The Marvelettes, Junior Walker & The Allstars, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Contours and more!
