Singer / songwriter Bilal will be doing three back to back sets at Oakland’s popular live venue, Yoshi’s, this September. The artist is confirmed for two sets on Saturday, September 14th (one at 7:30 pm and the other at 9:30 pm); with an additional set on Sunday, the 15th at 7 pm.

A couple weeks ago Philadelphia’s Broad Street, between Spruce and Locust, was renamed Patti LaBelle Way. The renaming was done during the Wawa Welcome America Festival, and it was done to honor the legendary singer’s accomplishments and ties to the city.
Patti LaBelle has won two Grammy Awards and is considered the godmother of soul. In addition to her singing career, LaBelle also has a successful line of cakes and pies.
Mary J. Blige has signed a first-look TV deal with Lionsgate to develop and produce television series via her newly launched Blue Butterfly Productions Company. Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. is a global content platform that brings films, television series, movies etc. to audiences all over the world.
Blige, who currently stars on Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy and VH1’s Scream, is no stranger to acting and the movie culture. That being said, now, in addition to everything else she’s involved with, MJB will be wearing a new hat as TV producer.
The North Sea Jazz Festival, which will take place on July 12th, 13th and 14th at Rotterdam Ahoy, 3084 BA in Rotterdam, Netherlands, will feature over 150 performances spread out over 14 stages. Among those confirmed for the event are R&B legends: Gladys Knight, Anita Baker and Ms. Lauryn Hill.

Live Nation continues their all female concert series by announcing two back to back shows with seven of the most captivating women in R&B: Brandy, Amerie, Keri Hilson, Mya, Ashanti and Lil Mo. Anticipation is building for one of the biggest music events in New Orleans this summer, the 2019 Essence Music Festival. This will be three days of some of the best black performances from various musical genres.
One artist that fans are eager to see this year is Miss MJB (Mary J. Blige). She will be on the main-stage on Saturday, July 6th along with both Nas and H.E.R. There will also be a special appearance by first lady Michelle Obama on the same day.
The Essence Music Festival will be held at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome (1500 Sugar Bowl Dr) in New Orleans, Louisiana, from July 5th through 7th.
