Earlier today the Andrew Holness Administration held a covid-19 press briefing in which they announced several new protocols that will go into effect as of Tuesday, September 8th.
Some of the changes include: 1) the new islandwide curfew hours will be 8PM to 5AM, 2) public transportation by motor car will be limited to one person less than the maximum number of persons allowed to be carried under the relevant licence, and 3) burials will be allowed but with strict observation and enforcement of the 15-person rule. The 15 includes no more than 10 mourners with the additional 5 persons comprising the officiating clergy, funeral officials and the persons preparing the gravesite. Funeral processions are only allowed to include the hearse, the vehicles taking the officiating clergy and the mourners.
These new orders will be in effect for a two week period.

In response to the current crisis and its disproportionate impact on communities of color, the 2020 American Black Film Festival will now be held as a virtual event. It will feature a wide range of recording artists, actors and public figures. Some of the confirmed acts include: MC Lyte, Method Man, Mary J. Blige, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and that is just to name a few.
