From Friday, May 22nd, to Sunday, May 24th, BBC will be hosting the 2020 Big Weekend festival online. They are promising that this will be one of the biggest digital concerts, with confirmed appearances by the likes of Nas, Coldplay, Koffee, Sean Paul, Stormzy, Rihanna and many more top-tier artists.

So far Verzuz, the live streaming song competition, which puts one artist’s catalogue up against another, has featured music from Teddy Riley, Babyface, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott.

R&B Legends Betty Wright And Little Richard Passed Away On The Weekend

With an onslaught of updates about the corona virus pandemic dominating the airwaves, many people may have missed the news about the passing of two R&B legends: Betty Wright and Little Richard.

Betty Wright, who is known for hits like ‘thank you for the many things you’ve done’ and ‘no pain no gain,’ died from cancer on Sunday, May 10th at her home in Miami. She was 66 years young.

As for Little Richard, he passed away on Saturday, May 9th, from complications related to bone cancer. He was 87.

R&B artist Mary J. Blige will star in “Body Cam,” a new horror thriller film being released under the Paramount Players banner on May 19th. It was directed by Malik Vitthal and produced by Matt Kaplan.

According to SF Gate, “Body Cam” centers on several LAPD police officers who are haunted by a malevolent spirit that is tied to the murder of a black youth at the hands of two white cops, all of which are caught on a body cam video that was destroyed in a cover-up. Watch the trailer here.

Canadian Music Week 2020 Now Cancelled! (@CMW_Week)

After initially rescheduling from May to September in the early weeks of the COVID-19 crisis, Canadian Music Week 2020 is now officially cancelled. CMW CEO Danya Dixon emailed conference and festival attendees last night, May 4th, to confirm the news.

All ticketed concerts have been refunded or are in the process of being refunded, according to CMW.
