Have You Heard KRS-One’s Latest Single “Black Black Black”? (@IAmKRSOne)

I have listened to KRS-One‘s latest single, “Black Black Black,” a few times now and every time I do I get a sense of euphoria. I am truly over joyed that this man is still making music with the kind of passion and intensity he had when he first started.

My fervent wish is that a lot of these young guys who claim to be hip-hop lyricists would start paying attention to artists like KRS-One and tune into the message in his music. I want them to understand that it’s content like this that got us – as a people – to where we are now, and it will take similar messages to get us even further.

“Stand With The Protesters Remix” Video Coming in 2021! (@EgDaGovenaw)

Several weeks ago, in the height of the protests against police brutality and racial inequality, four artists got together and made it clear that they are standing with the people who are speaking out against these injustices.

New York based dancehall and soca artist E.G., who had previously released a single titled “Stand With The Protesters,” invited Ras Xtr3me, Mr. AMG and J Shadda to join him on the remix. Coincidentally, the revised version became more widely accepted than the original. This resulted in the men creating some visuals for the project.

Within the last few weeks, director King Neptune came up with a concept that would allow all the men – despite being in different cities, and in some cases countries – to play a part in telling the story about police abusing their power and stereo typing young black men. The video, which was predominantly captured at Bushwick Studio in Brooklyn, New York, was shot and is being edited by Mavrick’s Mansion Studios.

The official release date is not yet known but it is expected to be released in January, 2021. E.G., the man behind the project said the following about the video: “It was fun and exciting to pull off this shoot and a big shout out to everyone who helped us put this together.”

Joeboy Ends 2020 With A Celebration

Emerging Nigerian popstar Joeboy today shares the vibrant visuals for “Celebration,” his latest single and his final release of 2020.

The Dammy Twitch-directed video builds on the jubilant, gospel-inflected sound of “Celebration,” released to DSPs earlier this month. An uplifting addition to a season that, in any normal year, would be reserved for festive gatherings, “Celebration” depicts life’s simple joys, with a color scheme inspired by traditional Yoruba attire.

The breakout act from Mr Eazi’s #emPawa100 talent incubator, Joeboy has become one of African music’s brightest new stars in just over a year, topping charts across the Continent with an improbable run of smashes. With lyrics that capture the innocence of young love and the sting of youthful heartbreak, the 23-year-old crooner has carved his own lane within the increasingly crowded field of Nigerian pop stars, amassing more than 500 million streams of his music across DSPs.
