Marvin Gaye’s Biopic In The Works

It is being reported that Marvin Gaye‘s biopic, What’s Going On, will be hitting the big screen in 2023. Both Jan Gaye, Marvin Gaye‘s widow, and Motown Records are on board, which means that the film will have the rights to use Gaye‘s music.

The script will be authored by playwright Marcus Gardley, while Allen Hughes from the Hughes Brothers (credits: Menace II Society and Dead Presidents) will be the director. Hip-hop producer and artist Dr. Dre and Interscope Records’ co-founder Jimmy Iovine are among the producers.

Ladipoe Drops Visuals For His Trending Hit Song “Feeling” (@LadiPoe @Bujutoyourears)

Popular Nigerian artist Ladipoe, who got signed to Mavin Records a few years ago, has just shared the visuals for his trending hit song Feeling. The track, which is a collaboration with Buju, was officially released in early May and has been getting heavy rotation ever since it came out.

India Arie Added To The Juneteenth Unityfest Line-up (@indiaarie)

The organizers of the Robert Randolph Foundation’s Juneteenth Unityfest have announced that GRAMMY Award-winning artist India Arie has been added to the line-up. She will now join already confirmed performers: Earth, Wind & Fire, Black Pumas, Aloe Blacc, Bebe Winans and many more.

The event will stream live this Saturday, June 19th via the festival’s website starting at 5:00pm EST / 2:00 pm PST.

Swizz Beatz & Timbaland Will Be Awarded By ASCAP For Their Influence On Music & Culture

The 2021 ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards will kick off on June 22nd with songwriters, beatmakers and producers Swizz Beatz, Timbaland and D-Nice receiving the prestigious ASCAP Voice of the Culture Award. All three men are being acknowledged because of the major influence they have had on both music and culture.

Chaka Khan Confirmed As Headliner For The 2021 “Black Girls Rock Gala” (@ChakaKhan)

The organizers of the annual Black Girls Rock Gala, which will broadcast via the newly launched BGR!TV Network on June 18th, have announced that the queen of funk, Chaka Khan, is confirmed and will be performing.

The event will also feature: Alice Smith, Maimouna Youssef aka MuMu Fresh, DC’s all-woman band Bela Dona, gospel singer Tasha Cobbs Leonard and others. It will be hosted by actress Tatyana Ali and hip-hop legend MC Lyte.
