Our Ting Our Way (OTOW) Returns This Saturday, August 20 (@Blakkwuman22)

This Saturday, August 20, Our Ting Our Way, the open mic event designed to give artists an opportunity to perform in front of, and be judged by their peers, will have its first staging since the reopening of the entertainment sector.

OTOW will be held at a new location: Green Spice Bar & Lounge – 62 Balmagie Ave, Kingston 11 – in Waterhouse, from 7pm to midnight; with popular selector DJ Stanhype on the turntables, and dancehall artist Karamanti as host.

For those not familiar with OTOW, it is basically a gathering of artists – predominantly lyricists – who engage in dancehall cypher: trading bars over various tracks, with the ‘baddest’ lyricist getting bragging rights. This event is open to the public and there is no entrance fee.

Reggae Star Anthony Malvo Will Join Michael Bolton & Others At “Legends In Concert 2022”

The organizers of the annual Legends In Concert have added Jamaica’s living legend, Anthony Malvo, to the 2022 lineup. Malvo will share the stage with other reggae greats: Lady G, Marcia Griffiths, L.U.S.T, Junie Ranks and Jigsy King; as well as American singer and songwriter Michael Bolton.

Those of us who are fans and lovers of reggae music must be careful to distinguish between reggae acts who are committed to making quality music and those distracted by the limelight. The latter usually does any and everything to remain in the minds of the masses, while the former are often so engrossed in the production process that they tend to come across as having a low profile. Such is the case with Anthony Malvo.

The Jamaican singer whose voice can be heard on countless hits dating back to the late 80s, is one of those vocalists who has consistently dedicated all his time and energy to making great music. His catalogue, which includes his just released album – Matured – is a testament to that fact.

His initial hits include Come Back To Me and Rain From The Skies, both with Tiger; and Take You To The Dance with Daddy Lizard. The combinations were followed by a solo venture recorded with popular producer Bobby Digital. However, Malvo began making some of his best work when he launched the label Real Music Production and produced the Balistic Affair Riddim which featured himself, Leroy Smart, Bounty Killer, Capleton, Sizzla, Ward21, Shinehead, Warrior King and a host of others. His success as both a singer and producer remained constant throughout the 1990s- to date. This makes him an ideal fit for Legends In Concert.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, September 18 at Legion Field – 3173 Mill Street Northeast – in Covington, Georgia. Showtime is 5pm.
