AZ’s New Video Addresses The Disturbing State Of Inner City Youths In America (@quietazmoney)

AZ, from the hip-hop group The Firm, has released a thought provoking video for his song “Found My Niche.

Based on how the visuals starts out, with several young black men holding and openly displaying guns, it would leave one to assume that AZ and those involved in the creation of the video, are in support of that lifestyle; but that is not the case. Prior to the start of the actual song, AZ takes time to recite a poem in which he voices concern about the disturbing mindset of America’s inner-city black youth.

To fully appreciate the depth of both the song and video we are encouraging everyone to simply watch the clip.

Next Week Questlove From The Roots Crew Will Host A Potluck on The Food Network (@QuestLovesFood)

On Thursday, May 28th, Two One Five Entertainment, The Roots‘ production company, will host an event dubbed Questlove’s Potluck on The Food Network starting at 10:00 PM EST.

This is a one hour special that will feature several celebrity guests: Patti LaBelle, Bun B, Black Thought, Eva Longoria, George Lopez, Questlove and many more. The objective is to raise money for America’s Food Fund.

Nas, Sean Paul & Koffee Among Artists Confirmed For BBC’s Big Weekend 2020

From Friday, May 22nd, to Sunday, May 24th, BBC will be hosting the 2020 Big Weekend festival online. They are promising that this will be one of the biggest digital concerts, with confirmed appearances by the likes of Nas, Coldplay, Koffee, Sean Paul, Stormzy, Rihanna and many more top-tier artists.

So far Verzuz, the live streaming song competition, which puts one artist’s catalogue up against another, has featured music from Teddy Riley, Babyface, Erykah Badu and Jill Scott.

This Saturday, May 16th, it’s the turn of hip-hop heavy-weights Nelly and Ludacris. Songs from the men will go head to head, starting at 7:00 PM EST. All the links to stream the showdown are available HERE.

Canadian Music Week 2020 Now Cancelled! (@CMW_Week)

After initially rescheduling from May to September in the early weeks of the COVID-19 crisis, Canadian Music Week 2020 is now officially cancelled. CMW CEO Danya Dixon emailed conference and festival attendees last night, May 4th, to confirm the news.

All ticketed concerts have been refunded or are in the process of being refunded, according to CMW.

Hip-hop Artist Scarface Recovers From COVID-19

Towards the end of March, we learned that legendary hip-hop artist Scarface contracted the novel corona virus. He was apparently in really bad shape as he struggled to breathe.

Today, April 30th, we are happy to announce that the MC is doing much better. Although he is not completely clear, all indications are that he is winning the battle against the deadly disease.
