MC Lyte Method Man & MJBIn response to the current crisis and its disproportionate impact on communities of color, the 2020 American Black Film Festival will now be held as a virtual event. It will feature a wide range of recording artists, actors and public figures. Some of the confirmed acts include: MC Lyte, Method Man, Mary J. Blige, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and that is just to name a few.

Continuing the tradition of the live festival, the digital version will include screenings, celebrity conversations, panels and seminars centered around the business of entertainment, as well as virtual networking opportunities.

The 24th annual American Black Film Festival will take place from Friday, August 21st through Sunday, August 30th, and it will stream live via abff dot com.

U.S. based female MC Sa-Roc, who is known and respected for her lyrical prowess, has announced that Jamaican reggae artist Chronixx will be featured on her upcoming album. With Sa-Roc being a hip-hop lyricist and Chronixx a roots singer this should make for an interesting collaboration.

The album, titled “The Sharecropper’s Daughter,” is scheduled for release on Friday, October 2nd.

Singer UMI & Rapper Lupe Fiasco Will Perform Live For Grubhub This Friday! (@LupeFiasco @whoisumi @Grubhub)

On Friday, August 7th, at 7:00 PM EST, Grubhub will host a live-stream to raise funds to support World Central Kitchen. The objective is to donate up to $100,000 to Black-owned restaurants and underfed communities.

The live-stream will feature performances, as well as a question and answer segment by singer/songwriter UMI and hip-hop artist Lupe Fiasco.
