Common’s Beautiful Revolution Continues… (@common @justpeej)

In the 4th quarter of 2020, hip-hop artist Common added his voice to the global conversation about racial injustice and systematic racism with his album “A Beautiful Revolution (Pt.1).” As he has done throughout his career, Common not only addresses the ugliness being done to Black communities around the world, but he also highlights the beauty of Black love.

Khrysis’ New Album Features Rapsody, Pharoahe Monch, De La Soul & Others (@KHRYSIS)

Last week Tuesday, Khrysis released his long awaited fourteen-track album “The Hour of Khrysis.” The project features a slew of hip-hop lyricists, namely: Busta Rhymes, Pharoahe Monch, Sa-Roc, De La Soul, Rapsody, and that is just to name a few.

When it comes to pure hip-hop production with ranges in soundscape from gritty to jazzy, there aren’t many more renowned in the underworld than beatsmith, Khrysis. The Durham, NC producer who is signed to Grammy Award winning super producer 9th Wonder’s, Jamla Records is one of seven producers on the labels production team, The Soul Council.

Digital Underground’s Front-man Shock G Dead At 57

They say death comes in threes so hopefully we will not be getting anymore sad news from the hip-hop industry. The latest one however, is the passing of Shock G. For those not familiar with 90s hip-hop, he was both the producer and front-man of the hip-hop group Digital Underground.

In addition to his work with his group, Shock G was also a co-producer on 2 Pac‘s debut album, “2Pacalypse Now.” He died on April 22nd in Tampa, Florida.

Talib Kweli Announces New Podcast With Yasiin Bey & Dave Chappelle

Hip-hop artists Talib Kweli and Yasiin Bey (known together as Black Star) will be collaborating with comedian Dave Chapelle on a new podcast dubbed “The Midnight Miracle.”

The men have not given any hints as to what the talks will be centered around, but their respective fans and supporters are already subscribing to the show’s platforms in anticipation of its premiere. “The Midnight Miracle” podcast will be presented on the Luminary website.

Black Rob Has Passed Away at 51

At the end of the 90s and into the early 2000s one of the hottest hip-hop record was “Whoa!,” a club banger performed by then Bad Boy recording artist Black Rob. The song became somewhat of an anthem as it reached the Billboard Hot 100 and propelled Black Rob to instant stardom.

Sadly, Black Rob has passed away. He died in the hospital on Saturday, April 17th after a reported battle with kidney failure.

Talib Kweli & Diamond D Shares New Video From The “Gotham” Project

The official video for “Attention Span,” track number five on Kweli and Diamond D‘s new album “Gotham,” is out now! The laid back record features Skyzoo, and the video has cameo appearances by several hip-hop celebrities.
