Rakim Announces ‘Thank You’ Concert Scheduled For May 13th (@thegodrakim)

One of hip-hop’s most respected MCs, Rakim, has announced that he will be doing a ‘Thank You‘ concert on Thursday, May 13th, starting at 9 PM. According to the lyricist, this virtual performance is his way of showing his appreciation to the world of hip-hop.

Tickets for the event, which is being hosted by VH1’s Richie Dollaz (of Love & Hip-Hop New York), are available via Moment House.

DMX Succumbs To Heart Attack

It is with a heavy heart that we have to report that DMX has passed away after suffering from a cardiac arrest last week. He had been on life support at the White Plains Hospital in New York, which is where he died on Friday, April 9th.

AZ Releases S.O.S.A. – Save Our Streets AZ – On Vinyl

S.O.S.A. (Save Our Streets AZ) is a compilation that was done in 2000 to promote AZ‘s then-upcoming album 9 Lives. It features ten tracks and has songs that are not found on AZ‘s prior records, as well as songs that ended up making it on the 9 Lives project.

Last week AZ announced that he will be releasing 500 copies of S.O.S.A. (Save Our Streets AZ) on vinyl for the first time. As this is a limited amount, fans and supporters of the rapper are encouraged to place their orders immediately.

DMX Hospitalized & On Life Support

It is being reported that DMX is in the hospital after suffering from an overdose which resulted in a heart attack this past Friday. Apparently he is now on life support at the White Plains Hospital in New York.

DMX is an American rapper and songwriter. He began rapping in the early 1990s and released his debut album “It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot” in 1998. It received both critical acclaim and commercial success, selling 251,000 copies within its first week of release.

Lupe Fiasco Announces Virtual Concert Scheduled For April 15th (@LupeFiasco)

Chicago native Lupe Fiasco will be performing all the songs from his “Food & Liquor” album live on Thursday, April 15th, starting at 7:00 PM. The performance will broadcast in real time via Future Stream TV.

Food & Liquor” is Lupe‘s debut studio album, released on September 19, 2006 via the 1st & 15th Entertainment and Atlantic Records. It features production from The Neptunes, Kanye West, Mike Shinoda, Craig Kallman, Prolyfic, Needlz, Soundtrakk and Brandon Howard.

In mid February the American biographical drama film, Judas and the Black Messiah, which is directed and produced by Shaka King, was released. The movie was accompanied by a stunning soundtrack that features several top-tier hip-hop and R&B artists, namely: Rakim, Nas, H.E.R., Nipsey Hussle, Jay-Z, SiR and others.
