Next Sunday – December 18th – Yahweh Ministries, in association with His Glory and Kevin Downswell, will present Joy to the World Christmas Concert & Play. It will be staged at 1111 Finch Avenue West, Unit 34, in Toronto, Ontario.
Needless to say, Kevin Downswell will be performing live. He will share the stage with the Fire Dance Group, Minister Wade Edwards, The Shabach Voices of Glory, Minister Selucia Lodge, Yahweh Ministries Choir and others. Entrance fee is $30 CDN for adults and $20 for children.
The American gospel music competition, How Sweet The Sound, will be back in full swing on June 3rd, 2023. It will take place at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre in Atlanta, Georgia, with host and performer Donald Lawrence. Audition videos are now being accepted in the following categories: large choirs, small choirs, soloists, dancers and spoken word. The deadline is Saturday, December 31, 2022 at 11:55 PM.
How Sweet The Sound was originally established in 2007 and sponsored by Verizon. During its initial six-year run, the competition awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars to promising artists, making it a critical destination and a springboard for successful careers. Now under the new ownership of Gentle Giant Music Ministries, How Sweet The Sound will continue to welcome a diverse array of up-and-coming gospel performers competing for cash prizes and recognition.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God – Jesus House – is bringing back their in-person Joy Of Christmas Concert, this Sunday, December 11th. The event will be held on the church grounds – 3 McGregor Square (by Beechwood Avenue on Halfway Tree Road) in Kingston 10, Jamaica. Starting time is 5pm.
This year’s staging will feature: Petra Kaye, Kevin Smith, MC Markland, TrueVine Dancers and many more. Admission is free, and all are invited.
Chandler Moore and Naomi Raine, two of the leaders in American urban contemporary gospel music, will be in Jamaica on Saturday, December 10th, 2022. They will perform at the National Stadium in Kingston alongside some of Jamaica’s worship leaders: Carlene Davis, Kevin Downswell, Rondell Positive and Rhoda Isabella.
Starting time is 6pm, but patrons will be able to enter the stadium from as early as 2pm. This event is being hosted by Kingdom Culture. Get tickets here.

The man who burst on the scene as a dancehall deejay in the 70s, using the moniker Prince Mohamed, has just blessed us with the visuals for one of the tracks featured on his 2021 album, Through It All. George Nooks – via Tad’s Record Inc. – released the official video for the well-liked Christian hymn, I Surrender All, in mid November (on the 18th to be exact).
Although the words in the song were penned more than a century ago by Judson W. Van DeVenter, an American art teacher and musician who subsequently became a music minister and evangelist, it is this reggae remix – produced and sang by George Nooks – that’s got the reggae community’s attention.
And, despite the fact that Nooks has achieved financial success, countless accolades and worldwide recognition as a secular recording artist, he has – since the start of his career – been committed to singing reggae-gospel music. This dedication became apparent when his grandmother died in 2001. He had this to say about I Surrender All and some of his other gospel recordings: “From I was little I listened to some of these songs in church. My grandmother was the mother of the church and I used to be there with her all the time.”
