Vybz Kartel Surprises Fans With Gospel Release “Glory Of Jesus”

Adidja Azim Palmer, better known as Vybz Kartel, is arguably one of the most influential dancehall artists of this era. Not only is he regarded as a leading voice in dancehall music, but he is also seen by many as a controversial public figure.

Kartel, whose music primarily revolves around themes of sex, violence, and materialism, has surprised his fans, followers, and supporters by releasing a gospel track. While his catalog is largely characterized by the aforementioned content, he does have a selection of socially conscious songs. However, this new release transcends being merely socially conscious, motivational, or inspirational; it is a 100% gospel song in which Vybz Kartel expresses his desire to be used as a vessel to spread the gospel to the ends of the earth.

The track titled “Glory of Jesus” is one we are familiar with. Although we cannot definitively identify the original author and performer, we do know that it was popularized by the Grace Thrillers gospel group many years ago. Kartel, like many others, has now contributed his own rendition of the song.

Though they may have been caught off guard by the release, Kartel‘s fans appear to appreciate the record. Some have expressed their sentiments by writing: “This man is a sinner with a calling on his life. He is the biggest helper to redeem the masses if God has His way. Praises to the one true God!”“Can Gaza Nation say amen?” and “Vybz Kartel for the church yard, dancehall, school yard, abroad, and all yaad! Thank you, Jesus!”
