Dancehall star and SubKonshus Music boss Konshens, has been busy behind the scenes as he targets an expanded presence in the entertainment industry. The Realest Song artiste has teamed with experienced manager Jeremy Harding, who worked with Grammy-Award winning Sean Paul for over a decade. Konshens has also teamed with Headline Entertainment in an exclusive booking partnership.

The move comes as the artiste seeks to stabilize the business side of the music. Konshens is excited about what lies ahead as he believes this more experienced team can achieve great things. While being happy with the achievements of his career so far the business minded Konshens is not shy to say he is not content as he aspires to take his career to the next level.

The Gal a Bubble deejay recently returned from touring in Uganda followed by a performance at the Labour Day weekend in New York. Konshens is also looking ahead to a busy two months with a European Tour slated to begin on September 26 with stops also scheduled for Africa.

With a newly assembled team to boost the professionalism and business side of his affairs Konshens can concentrate on his music and the upcoming tour should be a great start to a new era in his career. The tour will kick off in Hereford on September 26 before going to Vienna on September 30 then Lyss on October 2 and Dortmund on October 03 and Beek on October 4 before heading to Africa for a series of shows from October 6 – 11.

The tour will then return to Europe on October 16 in Blanes before two Spanish stops in Malaga and Madrid on October 17 and 18 before heading to Brussels on October 23 then Cologne on October 24 and Oslo on October 30 and Stockholm on October 31. The final leg of the tour kicks off in Berlin on November 5 before two shows on November 6 in Antwerp and Rotterdam before closing in Amsterdam on November 7.

Super Cat

Reggae/Dancehall legend Super Cat has been confirmed for the inaugural Bay Area Vibez Festival lineup. Bay Area Vibez Music and Arts Festival will be held at Middle Harbor Shoreline Park on September 26 and 27 in Oakland, CA.

Internationally known as “Don Dada,” the godfather of dancehall, Super Cat was perhaps the first artist to merge reggae and hip hop in the eighties and nineties with hits such as “Si Boops Deh,” “Dolly My Baby,” “Ghetto Red Hot,” and his signature track “Don Dada.”

With his contemporaries Shabba Ranks, Red Dragon, Chaka Demus and Pliers and others, Super Cat was on the forefront of a style called Ragga,–reggae played entirely or mostly using digital instrumentation. According to Steve Barrows and Peter Dalton, authors of “The Rough Guide to Reggae,” Ragga has been the most commercially successful Jamaican music since the heyday of Bob Marley and the Wailers.

Born William Anthony Maragh in Kingston, JA, Super Cat literally put the word “dance” into the term dancehall. Rapping over infectious beats produced by King Jammy, Winston Riley, Early B and the Killamanjaro sound system and Steely and Clevie, Supercat’s lyrics were sexy, edgy and rebellious and fun. Countless Jamaican DJs including Grammy winners Sean Paul and Shaggy have emulated super Cat’s style.
