Protoje Releases The Official Video For “Can’t Feel No Way” (@Protoje)

PROTOJE VIDEOWhen Protoje unexpectedly dropped the Tracker John MD produced “Can’t Feel No Way” single on June 1st, fans everywhere embraced the track with great fervor.

The energetic song from his latest project, Royalty Free Side B, which Protoje released for free download via his website www.Protoje.com, is the first to receive the music video treatment.

Filmed in Los Angeles and Las Vegas during his spring west coast tour, in between weekend sets at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, the video shows Protoje rocking out in the California sunshine, celebrating life and success, despite the frustrations that can often be experienced within the music industry.

Director Yannick Reid shares his thoughts on the video treatment:

Can’t Feel No Way is sonically all about happiness and fun, and when approaching the video, that’s the feeling I wanted viewers to have. California has always been a location that projects blissful happiness so it was perfect for the song. The track drives pretty hard, very close to my favorite genre of hip hop, so in creating this video I enjoyed making it, not just as a director, but also as a fan. UK Based Reggae Artist, Peppery, Shoots Video For His Latest Single, “Everybody” (@pepperyworld)

UK Based Reggae Artist, Peppery, Shoots Video For His Latest Single, “Everybody”Britain based Reggae/Dancehall artist Peppery has just wrapped up the shoot for his latest release, “everybody.” Recorded on the Just Believe Riddim from Blakkwuman22 Music and ODB Records, “everybody” is one of those songs that speak out against the selfish tendencies of persons, particularly within the entertainment industry, who covets their colleague’s achievements. As oppose to directly addressing those acting in a jealous manner however, Peppery, in his wisdom, decided to encourage the ones who are on the receiving end of this type of behavior.

In his song he says:
Hataz a pree you but a no you one
Dem no like you because you buy di new van
Some a dem wi grudge you for a few grand
A Gideon, put your boot on…

In an effort to capture the message of the track, Peppery created a studio scene which shows a fellow artist acting abominably towards him because of his recent musical accomplishments. Additional scenes include a conversation between him and his label mate, in which he is counseling his mate on the importance of staying strong amidst the haters.

Although all his scenes were captured in Manchester, UK, a few additional shots will be taken in Jamaica before editing begins. The song “everybody” can be downloaded here: http://tinyurl.com/z45ulye

Karamanti connects with new dancehall single

KARAMANTIDancehall artist Karamanti shows just why some consider her the most lyrical female in Reggae and dancehall on her new track, “hawd & done.” Released only a few days ago, “hawd & done” is already getting major club and radio rotation and has quickly become a favorite in key dancehall territories outside of Jamaica.

The up tempo track is produced by Garzy Mix. On it, Karamanti, who seems to be defending her position in the industry, makes it clear that she cannot be discarded or overlooked because she is simply too good.

The song can be streamed from her YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/watch?v=Rh2Pr6I0vTM and downloaded at http://tinyurl.com/j52tx93

Sad Day For Dancehall

Delus.jpgIt is being reported by credible sources that yesterday dancehall artist Delus took his own life at his home in Kingston, Jamaica. Delus is the older brother for another dancehall artist, Konshens.

All the details surrounding his death are not yet known, but many are saying that he apparently shot himself.

We at MJ Magazine are saddened by this news as Delus was truly one of the good guys in the industry. We wish to send condolences to his family, friends and fans.
