When Protoje unexpectedly dropped the Tracker John MD produced “Can’t Feel No Way” single on June 1st, fans everywhere embraced the track with great fervor.
The energetic song from his latest project, Royalty Free Side B, which Protoje released for free download via his website www.Protoje.com, is the first to receive the music video treatment.
Filmed in Los Angeles and Las Vegas during his spring west coast tour, in between weekend sets at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, the video shows Protoje rocking out in the California sunshine, celebrating life and success, despite the frustrations that can often be experienced within the music industry.
Director Yannick Reid shares his thoughts on the video treatment:
Can’t Feel No Way is sonically all about happiness and fun, and when approaching the video, that’s the feeling I wanted viewers to have. California has always been a location that projects blissful happiness so it was perfect for the song. The track drives pretty hard, very close to my favorite genre of hip hop, so in creating this video I enjoyed making it, not just as a director, but also as a fan.
