Queen Omega Is Ready! (@ZackAriyahProd @QueenOmegaMusic)

Following up on their first release, “My Flow,” featured on the “Prelude” album, Queen Omega and Gold Up Music have teamed up once again to deliver a hard hitting, trap-influenced track, titled “Ready.”

The song comes with what Gold Up is calling a freestyle video, which shows a more forceful side of Omega. Click here or on the image above to check it out and remember to like, comment and share.

Canadian Reggae Promoter Denise Jones Has Passed Away

Anyone who is involved in the West Indian community in Canada is familiar with Denise Jones. She is the founder of Jones & Jones Productions, an event and artists management company that is committed to excellence. Though the actual cause of her death was not revealed, we can say that she died yesterday, December 3rd, she was only 64 years-old and according to reports, she has been ill for some time.

On a personal note, I – Maria Jackson – have worked with Denise on a number of occasions. I have sat with her on board meetings in Ontario and have booked her artists on my events in Europe. This news is very shocking and sad because I truly believe that she had so much more to do for the Canadian reggae scene.

My deepest condolences to her family, friends and love ones.

Reggae Sunsplash 2020 Review!

On Friday, November 27th and Saturday, November 28th, one of Jamaica’s biggest music festival, Reggae Sunsplash, returned, albeit in a virtual format. The show featured a mixture of veteran artists (Capleton, Tanya Stephens and Richie Spice), as well as some of the current trending talents (Agent Sasco, Romain Virgo, Dexta Daps, Masicka and Jesse Royal).

On night one it was refreshing to see Tanya Stephens, one of the most lyrical female artist in the reggae-dancehall industry, performing on such a major platform here on the island because in recent years she has been more dominant in the European scene. It goes without saying that the fire man, King Shango aka Capleton, burned the place down! The rastaman Richie Spice gave us a solid performance as he sang his hits back to back and brought some spiritual vibes to the event.

As for night two, it was all about Romain Virgo, Dexta Daps and Jesse Royal. They all gave great performances but truth be told Dexta Daps took the show. Because Maria Jackson Magazine focuses on positive music only we haven’t highlighted Dexta Daps too much but he is truly an amazing performer. Agent Sasco did so much talking through his set that it was difficult to really enjoy his show, and Masicka cursed so much that we had to tune out for most of his performance.

Welcome back Reggae Sunsplash, looking forward to 2021.

Nesbeth Pens ‘Blood Letter’ (@NesbethReggae)

Love him or hate him, no one can deny the fact that Nesbeth makes honest music that pulls us in and captures our attention. His new single, ‘Blood Letter,’ is a thought-provoking song produced by his recording imprint, Entertainment Soul Ltd.

Unlike his mega hit, ‘My Dream,’ which was all about himself and his aspirations, this new track, ‘Blood Letter,’ seems to be both to, and about the black race on a whole. Click here or on the image above to check out the stunning visuals and remember to like, comment and share.

Jahmiel Returns To His Roots With “Guide My Steps” (@Team_Jahmiel)

Jahmiel started out his career doing a lot of positive uplifting dancehall music that inspired the youths and gave them an option to the over sexualized and violent lyrics they were constantly getting. Once his brand grew however, he got involved in the clash culture, which often led to overly aggressive, and in most cases very vicious and threatening songs.

With the release of “Guide My Steps,” Jahmiel‘s fans and supporters are now saying that he is back to his old self. The song is about something that is very real in the music industry; the use of dark forces to slow-down, stop and / or kill persons deem to be competition. On this one Jahmiel is making it clear that he is covered by God!
