Catch Mighty Diamonds, Christopher Martin & Others On The “Virtual Independence Jam” This Friday

This Friday, August 6th, all Jamaicans at home and abroad are encouraged to tune into TVJ at 9 PM (local time) for the Virtual Independence Jam. This is basically an online concert that will feature artists like Nadine Sutherland, Mighty Diamonds, Christopher Martin and Stacious.

In addition to the live performances there will also be a ‘tune for tune’ clash between Ricky Trooper and Black Scorpio. Additional music will also be provided by Collin Hines and Donovan Dacres; with Jenny Jenny doing hosting duties.

At the end of July, Ineffable Records published Dance My Stress Away, a party/summer song performed by dancehall artist Demarco and international singer Stephen Marley. Though it’s new, the track is already enjoying favorable rotation on several broadcasting networks all over the world.

Sizzla May Have Another Mega Hit On His Hands

International recording artist Sizzla Kalonji, who rose to prominence because of his revolutionary and inspirational music, may be sitting on another mega hit song.

Several reggae and dancehall critics are predicting that his latest single, titled Crown On Your Head, which is featured on his brand new album, On A High, is going to dominate the dancehall much like Can’t Keep A Good Man Down did.

Beenie Man & Bounty Killer To Perform Live Together At Yush This Friday

Legendary dancehall artists Beenie Man and Bounty Killer will take the stage together this Friday, August 6, at the Yush Party on Wavz Beach in Negril (Jamaica). The men will be supported by the immortal Stone Love Sound, Noah Powa and other top-tier selectors.

Emerging Dancehall Artist Asta-G Partners With Damien Ceza On New Single

Clarendonian dancehall artist Asta-G has joined forces with New York based producer Damien Ceza on a new single titled Get Yu Energy Up

The record, which was officially released via all streaming platforms on July 13th, is a fun,  upbeat dancehall song that was created to get people to put down their phones, bottles, guns etc. and just enjoy life.

As he did with his recently released Midnight Run RiddimCeza created the beat for Get Yu Energy Up in his Staten Island studio. He then connected with Asta-G online as both men had discussed the possibility of working together shortly after the completion of the Midnight Run project. 

When asked what inspired Get Yu Energy UpCeza said the following: “My inspiration for this song was to create a positive vibe to be enjoyable for every age, gender and culture. All of my productions are fun and clean. This one is no exception.”

Julian Marley Among Performers For “AfroJams Jamaica Live” On Aug. 6th (@JulianMarley)

Jamaicans at home and abroad will have plenty of entertainment for the nation’s 59th Independence. There are a slew of reggae and dancehall events, both virtual and in-person, that are scheduled for August 6th.

One such event is AfroJams, an online celebration that will see performances by Aiesha, Konshens, Jo Mersa Marley and Julian Marley. It will broadcast live at 8PM EST on Xfinity Channel 1623 (U.S.A.), as well as on Facebook and YouTube.

Sizzla’s “Crank Up Bike Show” Set For Trelawny Stadium Tomorrow

Tomorrow, Saturday, July 31st, Sizzla Kalonji and his crew will host the Crank Up Bike Show at the Trelawny Stadium. It will feature two of the country’s most entertaining bike crews: Rush Riders and the Crank Up Riders. Music will be provided by Screaming Target, Mop Head, Fready, Tarek and others.

This is a paid event; entrance fee for adults is $1,000 JMD, while for kids it’s $500. Food and refreshments will also be on sale. All patrons are being asked to wear their mask.
