Reggae Genealogy Honors Sly Dunbar, Leroy Sibbles, and Mr. Vegas with Lifetime Achievement Awards

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, Island SPACE Caribbean Museum will host Reggae Genealogy: Lights. Camera. Reggae. The immersive audiovisual presentation highlights how reggae and its offshoots have shaped storytelling across Hollywood and international media, from iconic films to major television franchises and video games.

Central to the evening is the presentation of Lifetime Achievement Awards to three towering figures in reggae history whose contributions have helped carry Jamaican music worldwide. Legendary drummer and producer Sly Dunbar, one half of the influential duo Sly & Robbie; Leroy Sibbles, celebrated vocalist and bassist of The Heptones; and contemporary dancehall star Mr. Vegas, acknowledged for his decades of international success.

The event takes place at Volunteer Park, located at 12050 W Sunrise Blvd, Plantation, Florida. Gates open at 4:00 PM, with showtime scheduled for 6:00 PM. The musical lineup includes performances by Leroy Sibbles, Tifa, Bobby Rose, Phil Watkis, and Roy G, backed by Code Red Band, with additional artists to be announced. General admission tickets are priced at $40 at the door.
