Yaadcore Heads To Atlanta For Dubwise Debut (@iAmYaadcore @highlanda @DubwiseJamaica)

Yaadcore

The organizers of “Rocksteady ATL,” will host the debut of Dubwise Atlanta on Saturday June 13th at the Sound Table’s SPACE 2 (485 Edgewood Avenue, Atlanta, GA) with Yaadcore from Kingston, Jamaica alongside Aba Shaka, Farinheits Creation, Love People, and Highlanda Sound.

The original Dubwise Jamaica is a Roots Dub Reggae session every Wednesday in the city of Kingston, created to preserve the roots in the Dancehall & spread the message of love through music. Dubwise Jamaica guarantees strictly original & rootical selections all night coming from the vein stream & not the main stream, resurrecting songs that haven’t been heard in decades as well fresh selections from the new and upcoming Reggae artists.

Strictly roots and culture vibrations, with no slackness. Tunes played in a dubwise style, for their full duration, with messages of upliftment delivered live over the mic.

In December 2013, Yaadcore, the Jamaican selector known for his Reggae Aroma mixtape series, began holding a weekly, Wednesday-night session inside Kingston’s Whitebones Grill with the principles listed above. Dubwise Jamaica quickly became a magnet for similarly-minded selectors, including such foundation DJs as Rory Gilligan of Stone Love and Danny Dread of Stereo Mars and Volcano sound system fame. Jamaica’s young reggae stars Chronixx, Protoje, Kabaka Pyramid, Jesse Royal and Micah Shemaiah were among its earliest supporters, passing through both as performers and just to hol’ a vibes, and it soon attracted veteran artists like Lutan Fyah, Mikey General and even Ninjaman, as well as international acts like Pressure Busspipe (St. Thomas) and Ziggi Recado (St. Eustatius).

A year and a half after its launch, Dubwise Jamaica has become an international brand representing what many see as a return to a more pure and natural style of playing reggae (as opposed to the fast-paced juggling style preferred by most of today’s Jamaican DJs). Yaadcore has teamed with selectors Corey Chase and DJ Rampage to launch Dubwise Miami, a weekly session at Coyo Taco in the Wynwood Arts district. Although Yaadcore’s schedule only permits him to appear in Miami about once a month, each Wednesday night the backroom of the fashionable taqueria becomes the “Coyo Dub Lounge,” attracting a loyal crowd as well as fellow DJs such as house DJ Armand Van Helden. Artist Kabaka Pyramid dropped in recently to perform.

Yaadcore has brought Dubwise sessions to New York City, Washington DC and Puerto Rico (San Jaun, Santurce and Rincon) over the past few months and relaunched Dubwise Jamaica in a new location following a brief hiatus. In Yaadcore’s view, he’s laying a foundation for a movement that can spread consciousness and upliftment through roots music whether he’s in the building or not.

Jamaican Reggae Artist Michael Taylor aka Mikey General Thrills California Audience! (@MikeyGeneral7)

Mrs. Taylors’ Bwoy does it again! took it to them one more time.

00-mikeyUSA that’s a wrap for now the General; The Original Mikey General is headed back to Jamaica, having completed a successful U.S. solo tour.

I guess that silences the critics, who earlier on speculated that Mikey General could not do a USA tour without the aid of Luciano. Mrs. Taylor’s Bwoy has proven without a doubt that he is the master of his destiny.

I had the pleasure of seeing Mikey General perform live, three times at three different venues in Northern California; going in I had no doubt of his greatness, however his spectacular performance put a smile on my face as it was just magical to witness the outpouring of love going out to him, all during his performance.  The range of emotions was so unique, with one fan, beating on the stage floor with her hand, another crying in excitement as Mikey sings to his heart content “Take it to them one more time”. All the shows I attended was more than a appetite wet, it filled up my conscious soul. Mikey most definitely and without a doubt proven that he has the talent and ability to TAKE IT TO THEM, whenever and wherever they are musically!

As Mikey has stated he has been in this business for 30 years, so he is no youth to Reggae or Entertainment, he goes where the Most High directs him. He travels with the consciousness of Reggae in his heart and on his mind, this is the message he set out to educate the people them.

Carmelita Harris Irie Vision Reggae TV San Francisco says “Mikey General has such a beautiful sultry voice, like a bird singing in the heavens and the band was tight and the people singing and dancing and rocking he had the spirit baby he was on fire. I was impressed he left something spiritual through my soul’. She goes on to say  “that was one of the best shows I have seen to date what energy he has, go Mikey, please come back”.

Fan after fan have said basically the same as Carmelita, tonight they left the venue 19 Broadway, Fairfax California a devoted fan of Mikey General wanting more.

Case in point; A young man approached me and said “he is the BOMB! I came to this show because I thought it was Mikey Dread, but I love this guy, he rocked!! I so want to come to his next show,he’s radical!”

00-Mikey GeneralFan after fan song praises of Mikey Generals’ performance tonight and all I could do is smile. Mikey being a humble soul, is deserving of all the accolades received, I am both happy and proud of him, as I know over the years he has worked so very hard. It is now his time.

Singer Lee Tafari said “Mikey is the real deal, he just doesn’t sing conscious songs, this guy is real, he lives it”.

I can give you quote after quote, but you know, you will just have to bring this musical genius to your shores and see the treat that was provided to us.

Mikey General is the real deal for sure!!!!!! Jamaica don’t be the last to honor your own, we love the General and appreciate the spiritually conscious sounds coming from a dedicated warrior. Do yourselves a favor and just take a ride on the musical waves that leads straight to the General – Mikey General that is and enjoy. He has the power to move you!

Mikey General Speaks “I would have to say it was a great and humbling experience. The outpouring of love from the people was the greatest reward imaginable, I am looking forward to returning to America in the future to do more shows. I love the vibe California as well as the East Coast brings. Jah willing”.

Give Thanks to another magificient Singer/DJ Lee Tafari, Mi Gaan Band, Maitreya Rose and 19 Broadway Bar and Gill in Fairfax California for making this all possible!

And to Mikey General for giving the people the monies worth and much much more!

Matthew Radics, Son Of Jamaican Legend Jack Radics, Releases New EP (@MatthewRadics)

00-mathew-radics

Matthew Radics

Son of Jamaican singing and song writing legend Jack Radics, Matthew grew up around the entertainment industry and has actively worked therein for over a decade.

As a singer, song writer, producer, actor and film maker he has appeared on national television and radio in countries across the globe including the ones he calls home: Jamaica and England.
Matthew grew up in Jamaica and spent most summer holidays with family in New York. He moved to London at the age of 14 when his father signed to Sony after enjoying massive success with his cover of ‘Twist & Shout’. He was accepted into The Brit School of Performing Arts, The National Youth Theatre and Cambridge University.

Being exposed to different cultures has led Matthew to embrace a wide range of musical influences, but it’s the classic Reggae and Hip Hop sounds that dominated 90’s radio that have made the biggest impression on this young rising star’s music.

An all round entertainer, Matthew has collaborated with a host of talented artists and labels, performing in Europe, North America and The Caribbean.

After establishing his own independent label ‘SoundKillaz Music’ with brother Rivah Jordan, they are now releasing his first solo project: ‘The One Eye Man EP’. The EP features beats by London based hip-hop producer Whodiniz. The production outfit have been put together by legendary London B-Boy ‘Dolby D’ who has taken on the role of Executive Producer on the project.

Break Her Heart is the first single from the EP and is out now on all major e- outlets.
The video was filmed and edited by Capture House Ldn and produced by SoundKillaz Music. The song tells the story of a man torn between two lovers and losing them both. In a similar fashion the song itself is torn between classic reggae and new school dancehall, but in sharp contrast the songs narrative manages to stay sincere to each one.
