It’s Elephant Man’s time again (@eledienergygod)

00-elephant-man-mjmagWord on the streets is that it’s Elephant Man’s time again, and the flamboyant dancehall deejay is crediting the Almighty with placing him in the right place at the right time to voice what is being touted as his next mega single. The song, Dance ‘N’ Move, was recorded at Kings of Kings studio a few weeks ago, the same studio where producer Skatta recorded Elephant Man’s huge hit, Sweep, in 2009.

From the moment Elephant Man drove into the studio and heard the bouncy Double Up riddim, the acknowledged Energy God was spiraled into motion. From 9pm until 4am the following morning he worked on the song, leaving the studio with a sense of accomplishment. Naturally, there was no other name for this Kings of Kings single which highlights three of the current dancehall dance moves and their creators, but Dance ‘N’ Move. Early predictions are that the entire dancehall community will soon be vibrating with this Elephant Man dance track.

According to co-producer Damian ‘Tef’ Forbes, Elephant Man knew exactly what he wanted and how he wanted this song to play out. Jiggy Ras was at the studio doing the moves while Elephant Man worked on the lyrics. It was creativity at its best.

Dance ‘N’ Move is already endorsed by two of dancehall’s leading selectors – Foota Hype, who was in the studio for part of the recording session and Boom Boom. Plans are in the pipeline to shoot the accompanying music video which will showcase the creativity of the dancers who play such an integral role in dancehall music.

DSCN1866Described as the LEXICON of Reggae and Dance Hall Music, when it comes to writing lyrics, this gifted lyrical genius, with a superb and unique style combined with a powerful delivery that made his music stood up to the harshest of critics, Cleve “Lt. Stitchie” Laing, has been transformed from being one of dancehall’s most acclaimed icon into the Ambassador for Christ and his amazing abilities only get better by the minute.

Conferred with an Honorary Doctorate Degree, ordained as a Minister of the Truth, a Psalmist and a born-again Kingdom Citizen whose huge catalog and repertoire is totally dedicated to the manifestation of his new assignment, the Governor, like the great Reggae Ambassadors before him and the great characters of the bible, pursues his mandate with even a greater passion and unrelenting devotion, than in the days when he became king of the dancehall on Stereo One sound system as Lt. Stitchie, The Governor.

The former high school teacher of Physical Education and Biology who graduated from G.C. Foster College of Physical Education and Sport was destined to teach valuable lessons in the school of life. Though no longer functions in the formal setting of a High School, Lt. His transformation was the culmination of two years spent in quiet reflection on his purpose in life and contemplating eternity, shortly after the death of his beloved mother.

It was following on a near-death car crash on the way to perform at Reggae Sumfest in August 1997 and the receipt of a Gideon New Testament Bible from a Canadian Missionary the very night that Lt. Stitchie, on returning to his hotel, read the Bible, prayed, asked for forgiveness of his sins and accepted JESHUA HAMACHIACH as his King and Saviour.

Now comfortably preaching the message of the Kingdom and teaching about the King, Lt. Stitchie since his watery baptism on December 14, 1997, has witnessed the mighty power of YAHWEH in his career and in every other area of his life and has seen his boundaries enlargened. Consequently, his requests for speaking engagements, from motivational to guest speaker, are in very high demand. His excellent stage craft combined with an effective Kingdom message has earned thousands of renewed lives for the Kingdom.

Lt. Stitchie proclaim that one of the main concerns is to walk according to the principles of the Kingdom that will be an example to others, especially his former neighbors in the garrison of the inner city communities where he grew up, to his fellow dancehall colleagues and whomever he encounters on his journey of life.

MIKEY GENERAL’S BIOGRAPHY (@MikeyGeneral7)

00-MikeyGeneral032801_001One of Reggae’s most exciting talents in conscious vocals is that of Mikey General. His high tenor voice like a warm breeze over the ocean carries a message of faith and optimism. His unyielding devotion and genuine sincerity sets this singer apart from the rest. Mikey General long known for his association with Luciano has spent decades honing his talent, navigating the upper echelon of producers and studios in the reggae industry both in the United Kingdom and Jamaica.

British-born Jamaican Michael Taylor aka Mikey General, moved to Jamaica at the age of two and not long after began to imitate songs on the radio and television. Wooing the people in his community by singing Michael Jackson songs. His public recognition began when he sung in the school and church choirs. He grew up in the middle class community of Valentine Gardens in Saint Andrew, but it was inevitable that the sound systems of the neighboring ghetto communities Ackee Walk and Jackson Town would draw him. This is where his career really began. Whilst singing on sound systems and realizing the struggles and challenges of the under privileged, he began to expresses this in his music. While attending Saint Georges College in Kingston, he recorded his first song (Roots Mi Roots) for sound system owner – Ruddy Silence (Sounds of Silence) 1980.

Mikey returned to Britain in 1982 and voiced on top sounds systems like Viking, Saxon and Coxsone. This was the beginning for Mikey of a long career in music. As his career became more intense, Mikey recorded songs for Levi Roots, Blacka Dread and Sugar Minott’s Black Roots label. His fist single in the UK was a cover of Michael Jacksons “Do You Wanna Be Starting Something?” on the Black Roots label. This was quickly followed by Babymother on Levi Roots’ Conqueror label. Both songs did well receiving good airplay and thus a star was born! Mikey started recording for Dub Vendor and had many hits with them; like Kuffn Dem and Dancehall Vibes which charted at number one in the highly regarded magazine New Musical Express. He gained a taste for the road touring Europe along with Smiley Culture, Papa Levi and Maxi Priest in 1984. Then in 1985 he was voted best new artist by Echoes magazine.

00-mikey2In 1992 after ten years in and out of London, Mikey returned to Jamaica and started to record for Phillip “Fattis” Burrell’s Exterminator label. At the same time a young singer by the name of Luciano had just started to record for Fattis and so the renowned Exterminator Crew was born. It consisted of artists Luciano, Mikey General, Shadowman, Jesse Jenda, Ragnum Poyser and a young Sizzla .They toured extensively for a number of years before being reduced to just Luciano, Mikey General and Sizzla. Exterminator released two albums with Mikey, the first album Sinners in 1995 was distributed by VP Records and the other Just a Rastaman in 1997 was distributed by Jetstar Records. After two more years of touring with the Firehouse Crew featuring the great Dean Fraser, Mikey and Luciano left to establish their own company, Jahmessenjah Productions where they continued where they continued their musical journey with a renewed vigor. 1999 saw the release of the album Spiritual Revolution on his Qabalah First Music label whilst still touring with Luciano. In 2001 he released the album Exalt Jah on the Qabalah First music label. In 2004 Mikey recorded the album Red Green and Gold for Dean Fraser’s Cannon Music, which was distributed by VP Records. The album African People which was later renamed Master of Destiny was released exclusively on vinyl in 2007 by Black Scorpio. In 2008 the album Confidence in Self was released followed by Born to Rule in 2010 both on the Qabalah First Music label.

The song Father GOD Almighty released on the Joe Fraser label was a worldwide hit being number one on charts in the Virgin Islands and Miami and New York. Mikey’s 11th studio recording and latest album African Story, African Glory was released December 2012 on the Qabalah First Music Label. African Story, African Glory contains some of the best releases from Mikey General to date, with tracks like African Story, Guide Me and Empress Mikey keeps true to his faith and conveys uplifting messages for the people.

A Rastafarian disciple Mikey believes in the goodness of creation and endeavors to spread the message of His Imperial Majesty to the four corners of the earth. As he continues to sing good authentic reggae music it is his wish that some of his children will continue his rich legacy. Mikey General is truly a world citizen of music, he has released over 700 songs and by the grace of the MOST HIGH hopes to keep singing … and singing … and singing he says ”Haile Selassie I set the example, and we must take this message to the four corners of the earth.”
