Red Rat To Release New EP On October 9th (@RedRatLife)

00-redratAfter a minor scuffle between himself and Mr. Vegas at the 2015 Irie Jam Anniversary Concert in New York City this summer, Red Rat has been busy in the studio working on new material. In an attempt to show that he is still at the top of his game, Red Rat went on a seven days music fast, recording one song a day. The end result is an EP that is set to be released on all digital music stores on October 9th, 2015.

The EP, which is entitled 777 is very confrontational, lyrical, hardcore, inspirational, and that is just a few words that immediately comes to mind to describe what could very well be Red Rat’s return to the forefront of the Dancehall industry. Red Rat clearly is still very relevant with alot to offer a genre that is in desperate need of guidance. Protoje Releases Lyric Video For His Single ‘Criminal’ (@Protoje)

00-protoje-2014-01In his own words, Protoje explains why he decided to release a lyric video for his single ‘criminal.’

“Criminal is the fifth video from my third studio album Ancient Future, and it was important to me that it was presented as a lyric video. The lyrics are loaded with historical references and touches on some very serious issues in Jamaica’s political landscape.
In my opinion, it is one of the most important songs on Ancient Future!”

Busy Signal Shines at 2020 Gala (@busysignal_turf)

00-Busy Signal Gala performanceMulti Genre Superstar Busy Signal was all smiles and shining with the success of the 2020 Gala held at the Grand Bahia Principe in Jamaica!

Raising money for the Busy 2020 Helping Hands Foundation, a foundation dedicated to reaching children and young people to tackle issues such as violence, poverty and lack of health care access, Busy Signal brought together entertainers as well as community stakeholders who collectively agreed that together, they can make a difference.

Performances by Christopher Martin, DMajor, Exco Levi, and Ikaya demonstrated the will of younger generation artists to make a difference in the lives of the youth. This project will not only benefit people from St. Ann’s Bay, but the entire Parish of St. Ann and neighboring Parishes (Trelawny and St. Mary) as citizens from neighboring Parishes visit the St. Ann’s Hospital as well.

Speaking to media, Busy said “it is important that the youth and the community know and understand that yes we are doing well in our careers, but we haven’t forgotten where we come from, and we are determined to give back to our community … to make it a better place for those coming up after us.” Echoing Busy’s sentiment is Ikaya who added “some of the kids from this community are going to be doctors in the future. A small gesture from us today will go a long way tomorrow!”

Launched in April, 2015, the Busy 2020 Helping Hands Foundation has worked with and donated much needed medical equipment to the St. Ann’s Bay Regional Hospital in an effort to make medical access readily available for people in that area of Jamaica.

Jim Kelly Releases New Dancehall Single, ‘Set Trend’ (@jimkelly_real)

00-Jim KellyAs he continues his fast rise to the top, Jim Kelly once again shows why he will be a force to be reckoned with in the dancehall industry as he releases his new single, ‘set trend.’ Already well respected as a producer and songwriter, he is now earning his ratings as an artist.

Unlike his previous track where he tackled the issue of hypocrisy and phony friendships, ‘set trend’ is what many would consider a typical dancehall song, in that it is about women, and supposedly for women. What makes it unique however, is Jim’s ability to deliver it in such a way that captives the listener. Even Reggae lovers who are not necessarily into the dancehall genre are enjoying this one. After listening to ‘set trend,’ an ardent music critic said; “it is guaranteed to become a regular amongst dancehall selectors and DJs worldwide.”

‘Set Trend’ was mixed by Ricardo ‘Red Boom’ Reid who is currently among the top five dancehall mixing engineers on the island (Jamaica). Production credits goes to Jay Crazy and the song is on Jim Kelly’s own label, Real Linx Records. Persons may stream the song via MJE YouTube channel:  DJs can send an email to mariajacksonent@gmail.com for a promo download link.
