Effective immediately (Weds. May 8^th 2013), MJ Magazine will change its format from that of an online magazine promoting underground Reggae/Dancehall movements, to one which promotes positive black music and tells the story of the people behind it. The decision was made after realizing that there are far more mediums promoting popular (which is in most cases negative) music than there are promoting positive sounds.

By making this change, MJ Magazine will now open the doors to all genre of music created by Blacks around the world as long as the creator and the music are positive. We will conduct detailed interviews with the artists, producers and promoters of this positive energy and tell their story as best we can.

Dancehall music, culture and lifestyle have been in the hot seat for some time now. Many in the corporate arenas have said that anything associated with Dancehall should not be sponsored and as such, have refused to support these events.

Jamaican based artist, Karamanti, response to all who speaks negatively of Dancehall with a full length album and a video defending both the music and the culture. The project is called “Dancehall Retaliates”. On some of the hardest Dancehall beats, she explains that no one should judge the genre of Dancehall based on a few negative elements within it. As she puts it, she is also a part of the Dancehall community and she does not do slack, violent or degrading music.

On Friday April 26^th Gothenburg Sweden will be treated to a night of Reggae and Dancehall as both Jah Turban and Karamanti will be doing full sets at Club Dee Vibez (which is located in Gothenburg). The event is produced by resident disc jocks, Henchez, Fabelous and Jah Tyga all of Nitelife Mix Sound Crew.

Man a warrior is the latest release from Khali Taylor and is arguably his best release to date. The song previously released as part of the “rizzin riddim”, has been remixed and re-mastered, taking it to a new level and boasts a video with a quite unique concept. Khali took a risk doing a video which shows a journey into the spiritual realm to convey his message, a risk that paid off.

Wanting to differentiate himself not only from the other warrior songs out there but also from their accompanying videos, Mr Taylor went the route of using man a warrior as a message to his son and all others out there willing to be a part of Jah’s army. The video shows him relaying to his son the teachings of the King through meditation and song, his son’s acceptance of these teachings and realization of his own warrior spirit through this acceptance. A creative visualization to accompany a well written and well produced track, this artiste is well on his way to the bigger and better things.

Jamaica based record label, Concept Music recently released the four track compilation entitled, “Rizzing Riddim”, they are now following up with the official medley video. The project features Dotta Coppa, Khali Taylor, Karamanti and The Rizzing and is a melodious blend of dancehall and reggae.

Karamanti will be heading off to Europe, arriving in Sweden on the 22^nd of April to launch her first European tour. The entire program is being hosted by Nite Life Mix Sound Crew, a well established promotion team based in Sweden.

The artist is elated for the opportunity to perform in front of a different audience and is busy getting prepared for the trip. Prior to leaving for Sweden however, Karamanti will be gracing the stage of Western Consciousness here in Jamaica, a commitment she made to event promoter Worrell King in December.
