Domestic Violence Awareness Month evolved from the first Day of Unity observed in October, 1981 by the National Coalition against Domestic Violence in the United States. In October 1987, the first Domestic Violence Awareness Month was observed.

Some entertainers have released projects in time for Domestic Violence Awareness Month hoping to bring light to a very sensitive subject. One such entertainer is Karamanti who just released a track entitled “domestic abuse” in which she questions why women remain in such relationships. The song was produced by Keron Williams of Street Digital Records (Ontario) and is available for download at the links below.

Persons who have heard the song is comparing it to Queen Ifrica’s controversial single, “daddy”. One DJ sent an email directly to Karamanti after playing the song for the first time on his radio show, the email read;

“Played this track on I radio show yesterday, the accapella and the mix version and the phone line went madddd. The amount of Man, yes Man, that call in for the song to pull up, at least 5 rewind it get. I personally believe this song is going to be a hit.. Real big tune . Keep on making good muzik.”

Since returning to Jamaica from her European tour, Karamanti has been extremely busy recording new music all at the request of several overseas producers and artists. Her latest single is a combination with German dancehall artist, Beniman, who reached out to her a couple weeks ago asking for the collaboration. The track is called “I love my life” and Karamanti’s part was recorded at Mixing Lab Studio in Kingston with the final mixing and mastering being done at Rough Cut Studio in Germany. With all the new demands being placed on her, Karamanti has had to hire a road manager to take charge of her street promotion in Jamaica. Dugal, also known as Capital is now working in that capacity and has already secured rotation in some of the top dances in Kingston. In addition to recording new music, Karamanti is also busy preparing for a trip to Canada where she hopes to continue promoting her album, Dancehall Retaliates, as well as her new singles.

Since its release, Dancehall Retaliates by Karamanti has been getting amazing reviews. Persons in the media are calling the production “solid”, “honest” and “enjoyable”. Some have said that though they are not a fan of dancehall music on a whole, this is one album that they will add to their playlist.

Although the feedback on the album is overwhelmingly good, Karamanti still believes that more can be done with the project. As such, she is offering producers the opportunity to remix certain tracks. These remixes will be released as singles providing that they meet the approval of Karamanti and her team. Karamanti who was schedule to be back in Jamaica on June 2^nd will remain in Europe for an additional month as she has been invited to perform at Club Concret in Wroclaw, Poland on June 7^th. After her performance, she will remain in Poland for a couple of days, after which she will fly to the UK for a series of appearances. The artist is on tour promoting her new album entitled Dancehall Retaliates which was digitally released on April 25^th and has been getting great reviews.

Dancehall Retaliates was released on April 25^th, 2013. There are three singles that were previously released and have been included on the album. They are “don’t it”, “read” and “nobody cyaa stop we” featuring 3 Star. The lead single from the album which is entitled “pack up & run” was produced, mixed and mastered by one of Jamaica’s most sought after producers, Ricardo “Red Boom” Reid.
