New York City’s premier summer concert, Groovin In The Park, is famous for creating seismic jolts with the superlative quality of artists announced each year, and this year’s event is no exception. CEO and founder of Groovin, Chris Roberts has just announced two blistering additions to the 2015 reggae segment; spell-binding performer and lyrical crafts master Stitchie, and sing-along hit machine Coco Tea.

The announcement of these two exciting additions was made on Saturday morning on Groovin’ Radio 93.5 FM. Stitchie has enjoyed a dazzing career in both dancehall and gospel. He has churned out a barrage of #1 hits including ‘Wear Yu Size’, ‘Natty Dread’, ‘Big Broad Hips’, ‘Night & Day’, ‘Bun It Dung’, ‘Dress To Impress’ and many more, and his electrifying showmanship alongside his lyrical genius have brought him rave reviews all over the world- from the dancehalls and church halls of Jamaica to the mega-size concert stadiums of Europe and Japan. He was the first dancehall artist to be signed by Atlantic Records, and the only dancehall artist to have been conferred with an honorary doctorate degree.

He was recently named ”Best Performer’ by popular consensus at last year’s Rebel Salute concert in Jamaica. Stitchie’s hot new single ‘Dear Dad’ is burning up the airwaves both in Jamaica as well as across the airwaves in the United States, and radio listeners as well as dancehall fans can’t seem to get enough of this piercing, hard-hitting joint.

MORGAN HERITAGE READY TO ‘JAZZ UP’ GROOVIN IN THE PARK FESTIVAL (@morganheritage)

11The Royal family of reggae Morgan Heritage, whose new album ‘Strictly Roots’ will be released on their own siblings imprint label CTBC Music on April 20th, will join R&B singer Biller Ocean as headline performers at Groovin In The Park 2015. The mammoth reggae & R&B concert takes place at Roy Wilkins Park, Queens, New York on Sunday, June 28, 2015.

It is a home coming of sorts for the siblings reggae group which attended school in Springfield, Massachusetts and spent their weekends in their father, Denroy Morgan’s studio in Brooklyn in the 90’s. The legendary band has since stormed the charts with ‘Brooklyn & Jamaica,’ ‘Don’t Haffi Dread,’ ‘Down By The River,’ ‘She’s Still Loving Me,’ ‘Perfect Love Song’ and ‘Nothing To Smile About.’ Their last performance in NYC on a major outdoor event was three years ago. Now they are ready to captivate Groovin In The Park fans.

Chris Roberts, CEO of Groovin In The Park and his executive team were in Trelawny for the Jamaica Jazz festival and were impressed with Morgan Heritage’s short but superlative performance. An offer was made for the group to perform in NYC moments after they came off stage.

“Morgan Heritage is a group that I have loved for a very long time. They have a powerful catalog of hit songs and they sure know how to captivate an audience” Roberts reiterated.

“After two days of intense negotiations in Jamaica, we were able to hammer out a deal. They have unfinished business to complete here in New York. I am confident they are the right group to compliment the all star lineup we have for our festival this year” he said.

Gramps Morgan, speaking on behalf of his siblings, said the group is looking to deliver a vintage performance in Queens.

“We worked extremely hard preparing for the Jazz & Blues festival” he confessed.

“We were eager to share our new single ‘Perform & Done’ and other songs including our new album ‘Strictly Roots’ with music lovers in Jamaica but that was not to be. Groovin In The Park fans can expect what Jazz and Blues was suppose to get in January. It will be a journey through the entire Morgan Heritage catalog and more” he promised.
