Richie Spice delivered at Unplugged (@1RichieSpice @RIDDIMDONMEDIA)

unnamedFriday, June 24 saw the inaugural staging of Riddim-Don Magazine’s Unplugged held at Mingles Nightclub in the Bronx. The event drew out a fair-sized crowd and those who came out did not regret as Richie Spice set about the business of pleasing his fans.

Song after song, he gave them their money’s worth as he went through his repertoire sometimes rapping with them, other times taking them down memory lane as he touched on some of his songs of yesteryear such as Grooving My Girl and Earth A Run Red.He then made his way to later releases all the time maintaining the connection with his fans.

The only thing that prevented the night from ending on a sweet note was a promise that was not fulfilled; which was Richie Spice getting “one on one” time with his fans. Instead his time was monopolized by the media which used the opportunity to get their questions in – denying his fans that chance.

Promoter of the event, Adrian ‘Donsome’ Hanson, in apologizing, said for the next Unplugged event which will be seeing Bugle in action on Friday, July 29 he will ensure that the mistake will not be repeated.
‘We are taking the decision to bar the media and even if they come it will be as observer…fans will be given priorities in getting up close and personal to the artiste…after all they are the reason for all of this,” he said.

UK Based Reggae Artist, Peppery, Shoots Video For His Latest Single, “Everybody” (@pepperyworld)

UK Based Reggae Artist, Peppery, Shoots Video For His Latest Single, “Everybody”Britain based Reggae/Dancehall artist Peppery has just wrapped up the shoot for his latest release, “everybody.” Recorded on the Just Believe Riddim from Blakkwuman22 Music and ODB Records, “everybody” is one of those songs that speak out against the selfish tendencies of persons, particularly within the entertainment industry, who covets their colleague’s achievements. As oppose to directly addressing those acting in a jealous manner however, Peppery, in his wisdom, decided to encourage the ones who are on the receiving end of this type of behavior.

In his song he says:
Hataz a pree you but a no you one
Dem no like you because you buy di new van
Some a dem wi grudge you for a few grand
A Gideon, put your boot on…

In an effort to capture the message of the track, Peppery created a studio scene which shows a fellow artist acting abominably towards him because of his recent musical accomplishments. Additional scenes include a conversation between him and his label mate, in which he is counseling his mate on the importance of staying strong amidst the haters.

Although all his scenes were captured in Manchester, UK, a few additional shots will be taken in Jamaica before editing begins. The song “everybody” can be downloaded here: http://tinyurl.com/z45ulye

The album “Conversations” by Ky-Mani Marley & Gentleman is now on iTunes (@MaestroMarley @gentlemanmusic)

ConversationsMusic can be a great form of conversation, a giving and taking. Ideally it fosters deeper connection and communication between two musicians. The value of such a conversation lies in mutual recognition and appreciation – with the quality dependent on how much one is willing to share with the other. And this is one reason why the title of the album by GENTLEMAN and KY-MANI MARLEY says so much in its simplicity: “Conversations” is more than a collaboration, more than a combination.

The pair have shared a lot together – all 14 tracks on the album are audibly influenced by personal dialogue, tracing the interaction of ideas and feelings. Like all good talks, the “Conversations” by GENTLEMAN and KY-MANI MARLEY are an invitation to listen and explore. Purcahse on iTunes
