Veteran Reggae Artist Joseph ‘Still Cool’ Grant Performs In Aarhus On Feb. 3rd

Studio One Celebrates Reggae Month With ‘From The Vaults, Vol 1’ & Freddie McGregor’s ‘Bobby Bobylon’

In celebration of Reggae Month, on February 2, Studio One will release From the Vaults, Vol. 1, on CD and digital for the first time with an Apple Music exclusive stream from February 1-15. The album will be available at all digital service providers February 16. Out-of-print for a decade, February 23 sees the release of Freddie McGregor’s Bobby Bobylon deluxe edition on CD. An 18-track compilation of rare B-sides showcasing some of the greatest “lost” music by Jamaica’s legendary Studio One label, From The Vaults, Vol 1 features both the label’s top hit makers as well as some of its more obscure artists. The remastered set includes liner notes written by Studio One and Heartbeat Records personality Chris Wilson.
Featured on CD for the first time, the collection includes two previously unreleased tracks. From Alton Ellis, Johnny Osbourne, and the Gaylads to Roy Tomlinson, the Soulites, and the Officials, the collection spans the label’s output from the late sixties to the early 1980s. Previously only available on LP for Record Store Day Black Friday, the collection debuted at Number One on the Billboard Reggae Chart.
A fan favorite and one of reggae’s most consistent recording and touring artists, Freddie McGregor’s Studio One debut, Bobby Bobylon, is considered one of the key ingredients for a great reggae record collection. The remastered Bobby Bobylon Deluxe Edition features the original 10 tracks and eight bonus tracks.
Produced by Studio One founder Clement Dodd, who produced, tutored, and nurtured an astounding number of top reggae stars including Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, the Skatalites, Toots & the Maytals, and more, the CD will be available February 23, with the LP being released on March 9.
Since 2016, Studio One has partnered with Yep Roc Records to reissue albums from legendary artists such as The Wailers and The Skatalites, as well as new compilations from Don Drummond, Dub Specialist and Freddie McKay. Other releases include a reissue of the rare Money Maker compilation and two broadcasts of the Studio One Radio Show.

Marcia GriffithsVeteran reggae songstress Marcia Griffiths recently signed an exclusive booking deal with the New York based Donsome Booking Agency.

The company which has secured bookings for many local and international artistes, is well known throughout the music industry for its professionalism and commitment to its clients.

In a media release, Marcia who was a part of Bob Marley’s backing vocal trio The I-Threes and who recently celebrate 54 years in the music industry, explained why she chose to work with the agency.

‘Donsome Booking Agency is well known in the music fraternity for their meticulous work and how they collaborate with their artistes and guide them in a professional manner to elevate their musical career.  So, because of their track record I decided to acquire their services to represent me,’ said Griffiths.

The booking agency is headed by Adrian ‘Donsome’ Hanson.  Griffiths is confident that her association with the company will elevate and enhance her career.

She spoke about new projects that her fans can look forward to.

‘Presently I am in the studio preparing and recording my new single that will be released in a few weeks, so my fans, can look out for it,’ said Griffiths whose latest single Too Good at Goodbyes is currently riding the South Florida and Foundation Radio Network Reggae charts.

Hanson who is ecstatic about working with Griffiths, shared some of his plans for her career.

‘The plan is to take the Queen of Reggae to the zenith path of her musical career and rejuvenate and expand her fan base across the world, so her faithful fans will once again have the opportunity to see her on tour in Africa, Europe, Asia, South America, North America and the Caribbean.’

Stitchie1Earlier today Lt. Stitchie did an interview with Winford Williams for the popular entertainment program, Onstage. The artist was invited on the show to premiere his newly released music video, “undisputed.”

Once the video was aired, the men got in a heated discussion about Christianity and the Rastafarian faith. The reasoning was centered around the current crime rate on the island and the role both religions are playing to either contribute to, or reduce it. The conversation got deep and intense as both men were very passionate about their points of view.
