The International Women Achievement Awards Show Has Been Postponed!

The 2020 International Women Achievers Awards (IWAA), which was scheduled for Saturday, September 26th at Margaritaville in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, has been postponed! Though we did not learn of the official reason for the cancellation, one can only assume that the rise in the number of covid-19 cases on the island played a part.

Fans and supporters Capleton and Ken Boothe, who were both confirmed to perform, are encouraged to visit iwaawards dot org for the new date.

Kashief Lindo Shares Visuals For His Single “Buff Baff” (@KashiefLindo)

Earlier this year, Kashief Lindo, the son of legendary producer Willie Lindo, released a six-track (6) EP, titled “Justice – A Conscious Journey.” The project is a collection of well produced, powerful reggae songs that speak to the unfortunate ongoing racial injustice that is still active in many areas.

Yesterday Kashief shared some visuals for what is arguably one of the toughest song on the EP, “Buff Baff.” The publishing of this video is very timely, as there are protests relating to racial unrest happening in various parts of the world right now.

Justice – A Conscious Journey,” which is on the Heavybeat Records label, is available on all digital music platforms.

What Do You Think About Reggae/Dancehall Artists Doing Vlogs To Stay Relevant?

The covid-19 pandemic has caused every industry to reexamine the way they do things; the music business is no different. Tours and live shows are simply not happening right now, and by the looks of things, they won’t be for a while.

One of the things artists are doing in an attempt to stay relevant is vlogging. For those not familiar with this term, it is basically a video blog. This has always been somewhat of a norm with international pop artists but we are now seeing more and more local acts engaging in the process.

Several reggae/dancehall artists have taken to their social media platforms to give their fans a behind the scenes look at their everyday lives. Wayne Marshall and his wife, for example, have been vlogging for approximately five months. Today – September 17th –  we are learning that Romain Virgo and his wife have just launched their show, which they’re calling “The Virgos.”

It remains to be seeing whether or not reggae/dancehall fans will be as receptive to this as the international pop fans are.
