Roots reggae lovers will be getting a special Christmas gift from master saxophonist and producer, Dean Fraser. He will be releasing an album, dubbed “Nyabinghi Christmas,” which will feature songs like “When a Child is Born,” “Santa Ketch Up Inna Mango Tree,” “Feliz Navidad” and others, all arranged against Rasta-influenced drumming.

New Reggae Video: Lutan Fyah & Samora – What You Come For (@Samoraworldwide)
At the end of October Jamaican reggae artist Lutan Fyah partnered with Surinamer/Dutch singer Samora on a new lover’s-rock reggae single, titled “What You Come For.” The release of the audio was accompanied by the official video, which, though simple, was well executed.

Buju Banton To Release 25th Anniversary Edition Of “Til Shiloh” (@bujubanton)
On July 18th, 1995, Buju Banton released the “Til Shiloh” album via Loose Cannon Records (a subsidiary of Island Records at the time). The album, with its many hits, catapulted Buju‘s already established career to whole new level.
As team Buju celebrates the project’s 25th anniversary, they are now planning to share a new edition of the entire album. The updated version, which will be officially released on December 18th, will include never heard before songs. Click here to pre-order.
Toots Hibbert’s Burial Set For Sunday, Nov. 15th
After some hiccups and set backs, one of reggae’s most celebrated voice, Toots Hibbert, will officially be laid to rest on Sunday, November 15th, at National Heroes Park in Kingston, Jamaica.
Hibbert‘s body will be buried next to that of reggae icon Dennis Emanuel Brown, in a spot reserved for cultural icons.
The Return Of ‘Reggae Sunsplash’ Will Be Staged Virtually On Nov. 27 & 28
Earlier in the year before we had a global pandemic, Maria Jackson Magazine reported that Jamaica’s first reggae music festival, ‘Reggae Sunsplash,’ would be returning in 2020. However, with covid19 either slowing down or in most cases putting an end to large gatherings, we assumed that they would postpone the event until 2021. That is not the case!
We are now learning that the show will take place, virtually, on November 27th and 28th. The organizers have not yet announced the lineup but they have said that they will be doing so in a few days.
