Gramps Morgan Continues To Transcend Musical Boundaries (@grampsmorgan @JohnnyReid)

Maria Jackson Magazine has just learned that Gramps Morgan, one of the prominent member of the international reggae group Morgan Heritage, has released a Christmas song titled “Fa La La La La.” What stood out to us about this release is that the track is a country record, something we are not use to from a reggae singer.

Interestingly, “Fa La La La La” was produced by Scottish-Canadian country music artist Johnny Reid, who now resides in Nashville, Tennessee. Click here to stream and download “Fa La La La La” from your preferred music platform.

Kashief Lindo Releases Heartfelt Single “Love Is Just A Heartbeat Away” (@KashiefLindo)

The Florida based music label, Heavybeat Records, which is owned and operated by veteran producer and musician, Willie Lindo, has been consistently giving us top-tier reggae releases since its inception. That being said, they have officially raised the bar with the release of Kashief Lindo‘s (Willie‘s son) newest single, “Love Is Just A Heartbeat Away.”

The powerhouse song, though very laid back and smooth, is extremely potent in delivering a message that is sure to have an impact on anyone who hears it. On the record, Kashief, who sounds as though he is genuinely crying, questions “why are we so unkind when love is just a heartbeat away.” The singer challenges our decision to choose a path of war as oppose to peace; he also highlights the issue of childhood hunger, as well as the inhumane way in which we deal with each other.

If the lyrics and the way in which they’re delivered does not capture your attention, then the video is sure to. In an effort to be a honest visual representation of the words, the video shows real life events of things being sang about, with only a couple performance scenes from Kashief

Canadian Reggae Promoter Denise Jones Has Passed Away

Anyone who is involved in the West Indian community in Canada is familiar with Denise Jones. She is the founder of Jones & Jones Productions, an event and artists management company that is committed to excellence. Though the actual cause of her death was not revealed, we can say that she died yesterday, December 3rd, she was only 64 years-old and according to reports, she has been ill for some time.

On a personal note, I – Maria Jackson – have worked with Denise on a number of occasions. I have sat with her on board meetings in Ontario and have booked her artists on my events in Europe. This news is very shocking and sad because I truly believe that she had so much more to do for the Canadian reggae scene.

My deepest condolences to her family, friends and love ones.
