Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival Kicks Off Tomorrow, March 4th

The much anticipated Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival kicks off tomorrow, Thursday, March 4th, and will end on Saturday, March 6th. The virtual event will present a very strong set of artists from several genres.

Here is the official lineup for this year: Jon Secada, Lila Ike, Richie Stephens, Freetown Collective, Jah9, Sevana, Tessellated, Mortimer, Zia, Teddyson John Project, Moon, Earth and Fullness, Janine Jkuhl, Eye of The Brainstorm, Bunny Rose and Beky Glacier.

The show will begin streaming at 7PM (Jamaica time) via the Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival Facebook page, as well as on VP Records’ YouTube channel.

Reggae Legend Bunny Wailer Has Passed Away!

It is with a heavy heart that we have to report that legendary reggae artist Bunny Wailer (also known as Jah B) has passed away. He died on the morning of March 2nd, 2021 at a hospital in Kingston, Jamaica. He was 73 years old.

Maria Jackson and the entire team at MJE would like to offer our sincere condolences to his family and friends.

Jah Bouks Shares Touching New Music Dedicated To His Grandmother (@BouksJah)

Towards the end of February Jah Bouks released a touching new song titled “Gone Too Soon.” The record, which is clearly dedicated to his grandmother – who has apparently passed away from cancer – is released on his own Angola Records label.

Kirkledove Records Presents “Pray” By Romain Virgo & Busy Signal

Kirk Bennett of Kirkledove Records may have a major hit on his hands! A few weeks ago he released “Pray,” a powerful new song performed by two of the biggest names in reggae and dancehall: Romain Virgo and Busy Signal.

The song, which was official published on Friday, January 29th, is already trending on reggae platforms all over the world. Bennett believes that now more than ever we all need an inspirational record like this, especially as we confront the pandemic and all the issues that comes with it.

Alaine Releases New Reggae-Gospel “Carry On” (@Alainesinga)

On February 12th, DJ Frass Records – a secular reggae and dancehall record label out of Jamaica – released a rhythm driven reggae compilation dubbed “Six Miles Riddim.” The project, which is clearly non-religious, featured one very prominent Christian artist; Alaine.

Alaine Laughton, who is publicly known by her first name, is a Jamaican-American reggae singer and songwriter. She was born in New Jersey. In early 2019, Alaine got baptized and has been doing gospel music ever since.

Her latest release, “Carry On,” is featured on the aforementioned project. The very inspirational record is both soothing and encouraging.

Teflon’s New Album “Years A Pain” Drops On March 12th (@TEFLON_JA)

Dancehall recording artist Teflon, also known as the Young King, will be releasing a brand new album on Friday, March 12th. The project, titled “Years A Pain,” has twenty-one (21) tracks and it comes to us courtesy of Teflon‘s own label, Yard A Love Records – with distribution by Zojak Worldwide.

In a brand new song and video titled “Celebration of Life,” Jamaican reggae artist Turbulence is upbeat and positive as he shows gratitude for life and all the beautiful things that comes with it.
