International dancehall superstar Beenie Man teams with Jamaican remix king DJ Delano and Latin Grammy-winning producer DJ Buddha on their new single “The Keys” (Renaissance Disco/Therapist Music) out today on all DSPs.

Widely hailed as the king of dancehall, Beenie Man is an icon of Jamaican music with hits spanning four decades. His recent Verzuz clash with fellow dancehall giant Bounty Killer was one of the most watched editions of Timbaland and Swizz Beatz’s era-defining Instagram Live series, generating over 1.25 billion total social media impressions and upping the ante on the Verzuz series with its thrilling live performances.

Freshly reintroduced to the mainstream music market, Beenie is in vintage form on “The Keys,” a banger blending dancehall and moombahton vibes into a club-ready mix. A team effort, the track was co-produced by DJ Buddha and DJ Delano, along with Renaissance Disco’s DJ 3D (Delano’s son) and Sean Wedderburn, and given a final mix by Aruban DJ Steve Andreas.

At the end of 2019, Jamaican reggae singer Talmigila began working on a single, which eventually became a six-track EP titled “Master Mind.” The project was completed and officially released on June 1st, 2020, via Talmigila‘s own Banjo Simmonds Music label.

The entire EP is all about highlighting and questioning the “Master Mind” behind the current state of the world; while also sending a “Rasta Message” that encourages everyone to “Wake Up“! Producers and engineers that played a role in bringing this project to light are: Benjamin Jackson (bass player and lead guitarist), Peter Williams aka Peter Pan or Sprangy (keyboard), Lalumba – who is featured on one of the track – and Adrian from Supreme Studio in Miami, Florida. All harmonies were done by Twiggie.

Kashief Lindo, Son Of Reggae Great Willie Lindo, Addresses The Need For “Justice” On His Recently Released EP

00 Kashief Lindo Willie Lindo

Following in his father’s footsteps, Kashief Lindo, who is an artist, musician and producer, has committed to giving listeners nothing but high quality, authentic reggae music.

Earlier this year he shared a six-track (6) EP, titled “Justice – A Conscious Journey.” The project is a collection of well produced reggae songs that address racial injustice as seen from his vantage point. It features songs like “Just Another Question,” which talks about the importance of protecting our children; and “How Long,” which literally questions how long white supremacists will continue in their terror of hatred.

The EP, which is produced by Willie Lindo, is on the family’s own Heavybeat Records label.

Jahmiel Shows Softer Side In New Video “All The Girls”

Jahmiel

Dancehall artist Jahmiel has been very creative throughout the covid-19 period. He has consistently released new music, which in most cases are followed up immediately with some visuals.

Continuing on that path, this past Friday – August 14th – he shared a new song and video dubbed “All The Girls.” The visuals for the track can be summed up in one word, sweet, as it shows a softer side of the deejay.

Jamaicans; Don’t Be Distracted By The Dubplates Being Shared By Politicians!

On September 3rd, Jamaicans will go to the polls to elect the government, which is to serve the nation for the next five years. That being said, politicians on both side of the aisle are in full campaign mode. The colors –  green and orange – are out, posters are up all across the island, rallies are being held and dubplates are being played.

Election time in Jamaica has, in some areas, become somewhat of a festive season in recent years. Though we are glad to see that you can now openly declare your choice without worrying about losing your life, we want to remind all Jamaicans that this is a serious decision that should not be taken lightly.

What we here at MJ Magazine are noticing is that politicians are using music and entertainment to distract voters from their record. Politicians in the two major political parties have been sharing dubs by some of the biggest reggae and dancehall artists; and we fear that voters may go to the polls with the best dubplate in mind as oppose to the person’s record.

In closing, our advise is to enjoy the music but vote for the person who has been honestly working for the people.

Peetah Sancho Brings Out The Beauty In Reggae With “Roses”

Peter Sancho roses pr

After receiving rave reviews for the first single from his upcoming album, roots artist Peetah Sancho followed the release of “When The Trumpet Blows” with “Roses.”

Roses” was recorded early last year (2019). The track initially started out as an acoustic version of Dennis Brown’s song, “Have You Ever,” which was played by Andrew Bassford. After a lot of work with his music team, Sancho eventually created the beautiful sound we now hear whenever the record is played.

The song was inspired by a real life experience. A female friend of Peetah was going through a rough time in her relationship, and because he was interested in her he tried to reassure her that she is a Rose and deserves better treatment.
