Download Mikey General’s 13th Studio Album “We The People”

In early August veteran reggae artist Mikey General, who has been active in the reggae music industry for the past forty years, released his 13th studio album. The project, titled “We The People,” coincidentally has thirteen tracks and two collaborations. The combinations are with Sensi and Jah D on the song “Cowboy Times“; and Fantan Mojah on “Jah Is Great.”

We The People” is a joint effort between Mikey General‘s Qabalah First Music and Footprintz Music Group, an emerging American based record label that’s also responsible for Luciano‘s “Write My Name” album (November 23rd, 2010).

As stated before, Mikey General has been making music professionally for the past four decades. He is known and respected for creating tunes that are about spirituality and social issues. The tracks featured on “We The People” are about the same.

Sign The Petition To Add Toots Hibbert To The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame

2020 has been a year filled with a lot of difficult challenges: a global pandemic, massive wild fires and heavy rainfall due to climate change, and a reckoning on racial inequality, particularly as it relates to policing. These are just some of the things that immediately come to mind when thinking about the year on a whole; but what about the people we have lost as result of the aforementioned?

Here in Jamaica we are still in shock after the passing of one of our musical icon, Toots Hibbert – the lead vocalist for the reggae and ska band Toots and the MaytalsHibbert died on September 11, 2020, at the University Hospital of the West Indies in Kingston, after suffering from respiratory problems associated with covid-19.

Toots Hibbert is a reggae pioneer who has performed for approximately six decades. He is someone who played a major role in establishing some of the fundamentals of the reggae music genre. Now a petition to have him added to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is being passed around and we’re hoping that all reggae music enthusiasts would take a second to sign it.

New Video From King Shango “Talk Dem a Talk” (@capletonmusic)

Talk Dem a Talk,” a new dancehall single from international recording artist, Capleton – also known as King Shango – is arguably one his toughest dancehall release in recent years.

Trying to find the words to accurately describe this song is proving to be difficult; but I will say that it does have the energy and vibe of one of his earlier hit song, “Tour.”

Jamaica’s Annual Queens Of Reggae Celebration Postponed Until 2021

Unfortunately we have to report yet another major event cancellation due to covid-19. This time around it is the annual Queens of Reggae Island Honorary Ceremony, which is usually held in the month of October.

The event, which started approximately five years ago, is committed to highlighting and honoring Jamaica’s influential women in entertainment.
