Jamaican reggae singer, Lenn Hammond, who is now based in Canada, has joined forces with Josh Harris, the CEO and owner of Big Feet Records, to share a new lovers-rock reggae tune titled “This Moment.” Much like his uncle, the legendary Beres Hammond, Lenn also has a unique way of delivering his songs, especially the ones dedicated to the ladies.
“This Moment” is one of those laid back love songs that’s ideal for special occasions shared between lovers. Events such as weddings, anniversaries and birthdays come to mind.
Hammond was connected to Josh Harris, a California based producer and reggae fanatic, through a mutual friend, DJ Ron Miller, who thought that Lenn would be a good fit for some of the projects Harris was working on.
Josh single-handedly created the beat for “This Moment,” with the exception of the guitars, which were played by Anthony Cinquini. It was mixed and mastered at the Suomenlinnan Studio in Helsinki, Finland by Tommi Tikkamen.

Tarrus Riley’s Greatness Is On Full Display In New Video “Be Great” (@InnovationMuzik @tarrusrileyja)
Although Tarrus Riley has been busy releasing a lot of dancehall records of late, it is his new reggae single, “Be Great,” done on the “21 Greatness Riddim,” that is garnering all the attention! It seems many of his fans prefer the positive reggae vibe he delivered on this track. The “21 Greatness Riddim,” which also features legendary saxophonist Dean Fraser, is produced by The Notorious KOOL G for his label Innovation Muzik; an imprint he co-owns with Selector Matches.
The official video for “Be Great” premiered on YouTube this past Friday, March 12th. It tells the story of a young Jamaican boy whose only aspiration is to become a track and field star like Usain Bolt. It goes on to show him admiring pictures of his heroes as he trains daily, while getting support from his struggling mother. These images are complimented by clips of Tarrus Riley singing “Be Great.”
While there is huge anticipation for the release of the “21 Greatness Riddim,”Tarrus Riley‘s single continues to pick up steam in the United States, England, Jamaica and the rest of the world. Its momentum is especially growing in the UK where it is now getting steady rotation on both commercial and digital radio. That being said, many who have heard “Be Great” are now eager to hear what Queen Ifrica, Luciano, Nature Ellis, Gott-Yo and all the other artists tapped for the project will do on it.
Teflon Chants “Brimstone” On Artists That Are Misleading The Masses (@TEFLON_JA)
A few days ago, Teflon, also known as the Young King, shared the official video for his track “Brimstone.” The song is featured on his just released studio album, “Years A Pain.”
We wanted to highlight this video not because of the visuals, but because of the song’s lyrical content. Anyone who subscribes to Maria Jackson Magazine should know by now that we are very disgusted with the commercialization of urban and Caribbean music, especially dancehall. And Teflon, in his song “Brimstone,” seems to be just as fed up as we are.
On the record he addresses things like artists selling out for travel visa; radio stations collecting money for airplay and so much more. Click here or on the image above to watch the video. Please pay close attention to the overall message and remember to like, comment and share.
Karamanti Shares The Visuals For Her Afrobeat Single “Mi Nuh Bow”
On Friday, March 12th, Jamaican dancehall artist Karamanti uploaded the official video for her trending single “Mi Nuh Bow.” The clips, which were captured in Seaview Gardens (Kingston, Jamaica) by fellow dancehall artist Mackamilli, simply shows the lyricist delivering a very emotional performance, as she along with her team tried to respect the covid-19 protocols put in place by the government.
“Mi Nuh Bow” has been enjoying steady rotation since it came out at the beginning of the year. It is doing particularly well in Latin America, where several commercial radio stations have now added the song to their playlists.
Now that the release of the visuals are behind her, Karamanti will redirect her attention to the upcoming album that she has been assiduously working on. The project, which she hopes to have ready for May of this year, has not yet been titled, but features productions from European dancehall producer Major P, Jamaican beat maker Otis Mason and Arioso Legato from the United States.
