Malika has been performing and acting for over a decade in the United States and abroad. Her recently released record, “Do Betta,” is a representation of where she is in her personal and professional life right now. It speaks to the fact that none of us are perfect but that we all should strive and try to “Do Betta”.

The track was written by Malika and produced by Korise Big Tunes Jubert who also directed and filmed the music video. 

Many people may remember Malika for her appearance on MTV’s “Making The Band” with P. Diddy. Since appearing on the show she has been busy earning her degree in Psychology while simultaneously modeling and acting. 

Jamaican singer Omi premiered the official music video for his new single “Hula Hoop”, which is lifted from his forthcoming debut album “Me 4 U”, on Wednesday, September 16th. “Hula Hoop” is the official follow-up single to Omi’s US #1 hit, “Cheerleader”.

“Hula Hoop” is another reggae-dance upbeat record from Omi that will certainly make listeners feel like it’s still summer. The official “Hula Hoop” music video sees Omi hosting auditions to choose the group of talented and beautiful ladies that will star in his “much-talked-about” “Hula Hoop” clip. Eventually, the selected few will put on some Rio de Janeiro festival-like costumes for the video shoot, and Omi will throw a house party nobody will be able to forget. 

Powerhouse vocalist, Tessane Chin recently released the video for her latest hit single, Fire which has been blazing airwaves since its May 5 release. The video was premiered on Monday, August 10 on the popular internet site, YouTube and has since racked up over 10,000 views. The single, released on the Justice League Music Group Label, was featured as the soundtrack for the Jamaican songstress’ US ad debut for Clear Scalp and Hair in March. Since its release the single has gotten rave reviews with critics labeling it a modern twist of classic R&B.

The video can be viewed on Chin’s YouTube channel TessaneChinVEVO and features a classic rhythm and blues theme to match the original 1970s R&B sounding track. “It has a throw-back vibe which I think represents the feel of the song perfectly,” said director Nathan Patrick. Shot on location in Jamaica at the Terra Nova Hotel in Kingston, the video boasts scenes from the Regency Bar where Tessanne can be spotted giving a classic style ‘live’ performance. This scene more than anything illustrates the fun, empowering and soulful nature of the single, “It’s colorful and fun and brings attention to the music, it’s all about the music,” Patrick concluded.

Tessane Chin holds the single in high esteem as a mantra of empowerment and is confident that the video will help bring that message across.

“I want the video to represent the message of the song which to me is a modern day soulful power anthem without it being the typical boy girl scenario. Yes, I want it to be fun, but I also want to embrace the wonderful authority that comes from knowing yourself and your worth and owning your fierceness no matter who, what, where, when or how. Own your Fire,” said Chin. 

Following her triumph in Season 5 of The Voice, Tessane Chin has been busy wooing fans with her powerful and dynamic vocals. Chin released her full-length album, Count On My Love in July 2014 on the Republic Records label and has not let up. Since then she has worked with top producers and writers including Supa-Dups, Rock City, Toby Gad, Claude Kelly and Grammy and Golden Globe Award winning songwriter, Diane Warren. Chin was also part of the White House special, Women of Soul Concert where she performed alongside legends such as Pati LaBelle and Aretha Franklin.

Along with the release of Fire, Chin has had a busy 2015 with several appearances including notable performances at the Daytime Emmy Awards in Los Angeles in April and the PBS National Memorial Day Program in Washington D.C. in May. The powerful vocalist also received raved reviews when she starred at the International Festival of Life, On July 4th at Union Park in Chicago, Illinois. The dynamic vocal songstress was again in for high praises as she headlined the Bayfront Reggae & World Music Festival in Duluth, Minnesota before she closed out July with a performance at the Pan-American Games, on July 23rd at the Nathan Phillips Square in Toronto, Canada.

American R&B artist/activist Janelle Monae has released a powerful track called “Hell You Talmbout.” The song is both painful and powerful as it calls the names of just a few of the Black brothers and sisters who have lost their lives because of the color of their skin. Maybe in an attempt not to distract us from the purpose of the record, Janelle did not tell a story in the verses. Instead, she, along with others, simply yelled out the names of the victims.

While reading some of the feedback about the song we noticed a common concern; and that is, not enough artists are addressing these social issues via their music. 

Ms Lauryn Hill continues to silence critics with her out of this world live performances. Last night she was one of the musical guests on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and boy did she give a performance! She covered Nina Simone’s ‘Feeling Good.’ Watch her full performance here:
