The organizers of the 2018 One Love Poetry Festival have decided to implement an open mic segment, geared at giving emerging poets a chance to share their work. That being said, they are inviting all poets interested in taking advantage of the opportunity to contact Maria Jackson (a member of the board) to reserve their slot.

The One Love Poetry Festival takes place on Thursday, April 19^th at Atlas, located at Vester Allé 15 in Aarhus, Denmark. The event will feature some of the best poets in Europe as well as live acoustic musical performances.

On Saturday, April 7th, Bro Edison Agbandje, Leo Muhammed, Mutabaruka and Dr. Umar Johnson will all speak at an event called Masters of Empowerment. It takes place at The Lighthouse, located at 262-274 Camberwell Road in London, UK from 6 PM to 12 midnight.

Lt. Stitchie has joined forces with Dr. Michael Weir, Clive Foster and Neil Harrison – all past students of Tivoli Gardens High – to form the Tivoli Gardens High School Alumni Track Corporation. The organization was established to support inner-city youths by getting them sports gear, lunch, breakfast, school supplies, uniforms, bus fare, to and from school, tuition fee, shoes, vitamin supplements, cosmetology training & equipment, academic & financial scholarships etc.

In addition to the aforementioned, the organization will also help by providing athletic track & field written training programs to assist in developing their skills in this area; while simultaneously cultivating their thinking process into one of positivity and self-awareness. Their hope is to demonstrate to these poor inner-city youths that poverty is not an excuse to failure, but can be a prerequisite for success, as they are all living witnesses to this truth.

The organization is a 501c3 registered none profit organization in the state of Florida, with structured, professional and functional executives, directors and members.

Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett discusses possible opportunities for Jamaica to collaborate with Cayman Islands with: President and CEO of Cayman Airlines, Fabian Whorms; Minister of District Administration, Tourism and Transport for the Cayman Islands, Hon. Moses Kirkconnell; and Director of Tourism for the Cayman Islands, Rosa Harris. Noting the common cultural experiences and unique features both countries have, it was agreed that a multi-destination marketing agreement will be signed later this year, to provide a more diverse offering for international visitors.

The Ministers also discussed the role of Cayman Airways in enabling connectivity within the region, operating within the concept of the spoke-hub paradigm, to distribute visitors from far destinations such as Russia and China. The meeting took place at Minister Bartlett’s New Kingston office on January 24, 2018.
