Justin Combs & Sean “Diddy” Combs

Following an incident that occurred yesterday (June 22) on the campus of UCLA, REVOLT Chairman Sean “Diddy” Combs is releasing a statement on the matter. According to police and reports, Combs was involved in an altercation with a strength and conditioning coach on the Bruins football staff, where his son, Justin Combs, is a defensive player. It remains unclear at this time the exact details surrounding the events, however, Combs was arrested and later released on bond and is due back in court next month to face assault charges against Sal Alosi. Alosi is most widely known for illegally interfering on a live play during an NFL game between the Jets and Dolphins when he was a member of the New York organization. TMZ first reported the incident and claimed Alosi was aggressively targeting the younger Combs during practice.

A represenative for Combs said accounts of the incident are “inaccurate” and expects the charges against the mogul to be dimissed.

“The various accounts of the event and charges that are being reported are wholly inaccurate. What we can say now is that any actions taken by Mr. Combs were solely defensive in nature to protect himself and his son. We are confident that once the true facts are revealed, the case will be dismissed.”

Innovative Rapper 2Nice Unleashes the ‘Sunlight’ with Latest Track (@2nicemusic)

00-2niceAstoundingly versatile in his songwriting skills, London singer/songwriter, rapper and fusion artist, 2Nice is the kind of artist that only comes along every once in a while. His incredible fusion of reggae, pop, hip-hop and drum ‘n’ bass has been setting him apart for several years now, building true credibility in the underground urban scene.

Since winning the 2008 award for ’UK Unsigned Best Reggae/Dancehall Act’,  2Nice’s momentum and reputation has been growing thanks to his innate talent for bringing together and blending styles. His buzz is such that urban music royalty are sitting up and taking notice, with fans and collaborators including Congo Natty, Luciano, Tinie Tempah, Dizzie Rascal, Wiley, Mark Morrison and more.

And now, with new single ‘Sunlight’ release on QW-KEYMUSIC it’s set to show the world exactly how it sounds when pop, rap, reggae and EDM are drawn together, his star will continue to rise:

Gritty and raw while still having a polished sheen, ‘Sunlight’ is a single which could well see 2Nice break through from cult status to the mainstream. It’s truly impressive work from a brave and innovative artist not afraid to try new things.

All the more impressive, 2Nice does all this while suffering the debilitating effects of epilepsy. Using music in his everyday battle to overcome the condition, 2Nice finds the creative process soothing – allowing him to turn his thoughts away from an illness he has found it hard to come to terms with.

With his genuinely unique blend of genres, ‘Sunlight’ is just the first assault 2Nice is readying for the mainstream UK music industry this year. Hold on to your hats for 2015.

Hip-hop Artist Lupe Fiasco Addresses White Supremacy (@LupeFiasco)

00-lupe fiasco

Lupe Fiasco

Chicago MC Lupe Fiasco who is known for his opinionated stands as it relates to issues of color, wrote an open letter in direct response to the Charleston, South Carolina church massacre and Dylann Roof’s manifesto:

Dear White Supremacy,

First of all you are not really that supreme. While throughout history White Supremacy it must be admitted you have achieved some very dominant positions. These positions have been gained mostly through force or some biological agent such as disease that did a lot of the dirty work for you in advance. I mean anybody can use force on an unarmed populous and anybody can have smallpox. Not judging, just wanted to point out that having a disease that native folks aren’t immune to because they’ve never seen it doesn’t make you strategically smart or tactically superior, just kind of sick. And these dominant positions don’t really stand up to the test of time that long either. There is nothing about you biologically or physically that denotes an innate mode of supremacy. For that matter there is also nothing about you psychologically, philosophically, cognitively, academically, socially, architecturally, culturally or even financially that signifies a higher position above any other group. And to be diplomatic there is nothing about you that denotes innate inferiority as well. So what you really are is something in the middle. You are regular. White Regularity is congruent to all other forms of regularity i.e. Black, Brown, Etc etc. But in regularity there is room for differences and this is where White Regularity shines! Each group gets the same essential universals. Dance, food, music, etc. and it must be admitted that the White Regularity take on these universal institutions has been unbelievably impressive and a great addition to the total world culture. I mean spaghetti and meatballs, Romeo & Juliet, Coldplay, The Tuxedo, lighter that air travel are all world class additions to the collective bucket but they are no less or more impressive than every other regular groups take on the universals either. And if we really wanted to get analytical every invention is built on inspiration from a previously existing invention so the claim of “The Supreme 1st” to do something is highly debatable and except for a few exceptions, impossible! All things human aren’t born from a supreme overlord solely working in isolation.

Things are created in collaboration and in tandem with other cultures, knowledge structures and movements and more important, People. I mean if those Muslims didn’t catalog all that Greek philosophy for research we might not even know who Plato was. Now whether this collaboration is forced, which is seen so much but not exclusively throughout human history, does not take away the fact that it is done with the help of somebody else. We are supreme as a spectrum of colors in collaboration. One color does not dominate the other nor can it. Sure Steve Jobs was white. But the guy who built the computer was probably Chinese. And the girl who wrote the programs for the computer is probably from Mumbai. And the raw materials that were used to make it where probably first pulled out of the ground by somebody in South Africa. And if you take this highly collaborated upon piece of high technology to an indigenous tribe in the jungles of Brazil they’d probably use it as a boat paddle. And we can go on and on down or up the rabbit hole all day long and you’ll always find a regular somebody relying on the abilities of a just as regular somebody else that another regular somebody doesn’t even care about. White Supremacy is a lie white regularists tell to themselves in hopes that they can get a one way ticket to the top and hope we other colors overhear it. Here’s the bad news, ain’t no top. Here’s the good news though, ain’t no bottom neither! It’s just the regular ole middle where nobody is safe from being influenced by somebody else’s extreme regularness. Is your swastika flag printed in Mexico? Did you know the swastika is originally from Asia and the subcontinent? Did you know black people had slaves in Africa too? Did you know in the world you’re considered a minority too? I mean you call us niggers and beaners but you gotta ship all your formerly Native American land, backwood sourced ginseng to China to get money to support your meth habit. Meth that’s made with chemicals produced in India. I mean Hitler hated everything about the Jews expect every possession they had. It’s funny how the things you hate so much you have to rely on the most for your survival.

And if you wanted to get really ironic and meta about it, White Supremacy has to validate its own identity based solely on its relationship to other races! I mean now that’s what I would call joined at the hip. Without us there is no white supremacy because there would be nothing to be supreme over! That sounds so stupid but sometimes the truth is stupid. Stupid like a fox. And no not stupid like a Fox News I mean the real fox. The animal.

In closing white regularity (the race formerly known as white supremacy) I myself on behalf of my own black regularity salute you. Good luck with the northwest front I hear it’s beautiful in the spring and probably a strategic death trap if and when Yellowstone finally decides to blow up!

Matthew Radics, Son Of Jamaican Legend Jack Radics, Releases New EP (@MatthewRadics)

00-mathew-radics

Matthew Radics

Son of Jamaican singing and song writing legend Jack Radics, Matthew grew up around the entertainment industry and has actively worked therein for over a decade.

As a singer, song writer, producer, actor and film maker he has appeared on national television and radio in countries across the globe including the ones he calls home: Jamaica and England.
Matthew grew up in Jamaica and spent most summer holidays with family in New York. He moved to London at the age of 14 when his father signed to Sony after enjoying massive success with his cover of ‘Twist & Shout’. He was accepted into The Brit School of Performing Arts, The National Youth Theatre and Cambridge University.

Being exposed to different cultures has led Matthew to embrace a wide range of musical influences, but it’s the classic Reggae and Hip Hop sounds that dominated 90’s radio that have made the biggest impression on this young rising star’s music.

An all round entertainer, Matthew has collaborated with a host of talented artists and labels, performing in Europe, North America and The Caribbean.

After establishing his own independent label ‘SoundKillaz Music’ with brother Rivah Jordan, they are now releasing his first solo project: ‘The One Eye Man EP’. The EP features beats by London based hip-hop producer Whodiniz. The production outfit have been put together by legendary London B-Boy ‘Dolby D’ who has taken on the role of Executive Producer on the project.

Break Her Heart is the first single from the EP and is out now on all major e- outlets.
The video was filmed and edited by Capture House Ldn and produced by SoundKillaz Music. The song tells the story of a man torn between two lovers and losing them both. In a similar fashion the song itself is torn between classic reggae and new school dancehall, but in sharp contrast the songs narrative manages to stay sincere to each one.

Obibini delivers the 10 Black Commandments; a compilation of Hip-Hop laws (@Obibiniboafo)

00-obWhile real underground hip-hop continues to plummet in the west, some MCs in the east are establishing their authority over the genre. One such master of the act is Obibini Boafo. Since “The Ten Black Commandments” was premiered on Joy 99.7 FM’s Open House Party, the song by OBIBINI has gone viral and continues to undergo several online reviews. Currently Number 2 on the Loud Sound Ghana Top 10 Trending songs, “The Ten Black Commandments” is an epic piece of Anglo Akan literature in which OBIBINI delivers the hip-hop laws to follow, to overcome career flaws. Portrayed as the biblical Moses from the hip-hop mountains of Sinai, the RAP mogul lists ten (10) RAP commandments to becoming successful in a career of RAP Music and Hip-Hop.

Rule #1: RAP Music is talent driven and should not be forcefully taken.
Rule #2: Education is the tool; only fools go about proclaiming school
is not cool.
Rule #3: Avoid the irrelevant and stick to the concept in every track.
Rule #4: Check your timing in every delivery.
Rule #5: Your vibes shall be tight, avoid capitalizing on hype.
Rule #6: You must be fit when you spit, do regular jogging, hit the road at 6.
Rule #7: Better RAP comes from rehearsing.
Rule #8: Shake the stage and let your audience be amazed.
Rule #9: Your freestyle must give a sweet smile, on the spot; put your
thoughts on speed dial.
Rule #10: Be original, because being a copy will not even get you to
the regionals

Music is a significant piece of the African social fabric. Music is an integral part of the African culture, and it plays a significant role in every event of our lives. OBIBINI believes that RAP; best described as Rhythmic Afrikan Poetry originates from “Ahenfie” (the Chief’s palace), where the chief’s mouth piece, a lyricist known as the linguist, till date displays the art form. In a demonstration of his inner conviction that music orderly done can change the fortunes of the black nation, OBIBINI titled this classic piece of heart work, The Ten Black Commandments.

“There must be checks and balances everywhere, and in Hip-Hop somebody has to stand for realness ~Obibini Boafo”. Mixed by Kilo beats, the song was done on legendary rapper Notorious BIG’s “Ten Crack Commandments” cover. From the School Of Afrikan Knowledge, here in attached, hear The Ten Black Commandments.

MS. LAURYN HILL CANCELS SHOW IN ISRAEL (@MsLaurynHill)

00-lauryn-hillApproximately one hour ago, Ms. Lauryn Hill announced, via her facebook page, that she will be cancelling her upcoming show in Israel. The artist who has always stood for unity and brotherly love gave the following explanation:

“Dear Friends and Fans in Israel,

When deciding to play the region, my intention was to perform in both Tel Aviv and Ramallah. Setting up a performance in the Palestinian Territory, at the same time as our show in Israel, proved to be a challenge. I’ve wanted very much to bring our live performance to this part of the world, but also to be a presence supporting justice and peace. It is very important to me that my presence or message not be misconstrued, or a source of alienation to either my Israeli or my Palestinian fans. For this reason, we have decided to cancel the upcoming performance in Israel, and seek a different strategy to bring my music to ALL of my fans in the region. May healing, equanimity, and the openness necessary for lasting resolution and reconciliation come to this region and its people.

Respectfully,

Ms. Lauryn Hill”
