Reggae-Gospel Singer Derrick Scott Calls Out False Prophets On His Single “Some Preacher Nowadays”

0000-Derrick ScottTaken from his latest album, “Gospel Truth,” Derrick Scott‘s current single, “Some Preacher Nowadays,” though controversial, is accurate!

In the intro, Scott makes it clear that he is not talking about anyone in particular (“mi naa tro no stone”) but that the gospel must be rooted in honesty and not deception. He then goes on to shed light on the fact that many Ministers of the Gospel are there for their own selfish ambitions as opposed to carrying out the will of God.

Some Preacher Nowadays” is a reggae song with a laid-back, easy going, delightful sound, that is guaranteed to captivate its listener. Musicians that contributed to the track are: Paul Douglas (drums), Robbie Shakespeare (bass), Kashief Lindo and Lenny (keyboards), Willie Lindo (guitars), John Erinosho (sax); with background vocals by Susan Sultry and Shauna Dazzle. The song was recorded and mixed at Heavybeat Studio, with production credits going to Derrick Scott for his own DScott Music.

Meet Soné, The Jamaican Artist To Watch! (@_Soneofficial)

SonéJamaican born recording artist Cecil Wilson, more popularly known as Soné has emerged as one of the Caribbean’s more creative minds and a versatile artist. He was born on September 3, 1985 in the parish of Clarendon. Soné grew up surrounded by the constant presence of dancehall and reggae music. His family owned and operated a sound system known to this day as Turbo Sonic. Dancehall was a part of the lifestyle and even at a tender age, his grandmother Viola (Vie) would take him to events where the sound system was being played. This was a major contributor to his desire to be a musician and laid the foundation that has created the zeal that is now exuded whenever he puts pen to paper.

Soné was also greatly influenced by his other Grandmother (Glasmine) who was very instrumental in his early years. He would have to attend church on Sundays and just about every time the doors were opened. He became a believer in Jesus during his 1st year of high school in the summer of 1999. Soné was a young protégé playing football for his high school (Clarendon College) and for the Parish Clarendon. He then migrated to the US after completing high school.

Soné performs wherever he is called to! He has shared the stage with Capleton, DJ Nicholas, Stonebwoy, Tye Tribbett, Bridget Blucher-Simms, Sister Scully, Sandra Brooks, and that is just to name a few.

Soné was part of the duo PositivNRG during the earlier years of his musical career, winning the best new artist award in 2008 at the Hopeton Lewis Music awards. They were also featured on the album Next Level that featured Papa San, Shelly Thunder and Nigel Lewis. His single “Purpose” debuted last summer and is one of the most requested songs.

Soné is now working on his first studio album which will be released next summer.
