Lady G getting “Nuff Respect”

Lady G

Lady G is one of the most respected female Dancehall acts in the industry. Her songs “Nuff Respect” and “Ease Off, Breeze Off” are prominent Dancehall songs from the 90’s that still get played at dances today.

Last year, independent label, Indie-Rootz Records invited Lady G to Montreal, Canada for a live show. The show had a great turn out bringing out crowds from young to old ready to feel the classic Dancehall vibes.

Since her visit, she has maintained a close relationship with label mates Brian Kotler and Bobby Pottinger and has collaborated on a few projects with the label. In October Indie-Rootz released Lady G’s song “Rock and Come In” featuring upcoming artist Shae Mill as a preview of their upcoming riddim “Royalty Dub Riddim” project.

The new single landed a write up in the Sunday Gleaner titled “Lady G is Back!”. In the article Carl Gilchrist makes a positive comment about the single, stating

“Lady G is heading back to the charts with a throwback track that threatens to exceed the career heights that she reached when she teamed up with Papa San in the ’80s for such hits as Legal Rights and Round Table Talk.”

With the positive feedback that Lady G, Shae Mill and Indie-Rootz Records all received for the record, they joined in Jamaica teaming up with Spanish Town’s Black Ink Studios to shoot the video. The video was filmed to have a 90’s feel, filmed in a outdoor setting at Crystal Sound Head Quarters in Marvelly, Kingston 20, Jamaica.

Royalty Dub Riddim released early November, Lady G’s song was joined by various artists from Canada and Jamaica including fellow foundation artists Patra, Luciano and Jimmy Riley. The riddim is composed with live instruments using foundation elements with a new-age twist constructing a perfect blend of both worlds.

WOW RIDDIM Review (@RnBiggy)

wow (1)

Biggy of the duo Razz and Biggy have released what can be considered a refreshing dancehall project in WOW RIDDIM. The compilation features some very talented established and emerging artists; Agent Sasco, Propa fade, Natel, Ninja Kid, Ranco, Tanto Metro & Devonte, Pamputtae and Kalado.

Unlike some of the recent dancehall releases, WOW RIDDIM does not have any disgraceful derogatory content that have unfortunately sunk dancehall music to what many say is its lowest level. Hats off to Biggy for bringing back feel good dancehall music. Anyone who does not enjoy this project is sadly damaged by the “new dancehall” or dance-fall.
