When giant sounds with a fond love of the culture come together during a rare occasion, the result can only be music magic. To put it mildly, this is what went down in Japan recently when Mighty Crown teamed up with Rory Stone Love to take it “Back to the Hardcore” before thousands of fans during sold out shows in Yokohama and Osaka!

It’s very seldom that these prominent sounds share the same stage. In fact, historically, for 10 years (due to pretty well known behind the scenes mix up), the two sounds did not take dates together, with the exception of a couple of surprise/happenstance billings staged by a promoter. The beauty of “Back to the Hardcore” is that “The Far East Rulaz” and Rory Stone Love put all beef aside for the greater good of the music and culture, delivering outstanding performances to massive Japanese audiences.

With a focus on the phenomenal era of 80’s and 90’s tunes, a vibrant time for Reggae and Dancehall, Mighty Crown drew for some real dubs and classic 45s, setting the pace for the one and only Rory Stone Love to unleash killer anthems. The young and old shouted out lyrics to their favorite selections verbatim. It’s a no brainer, that classic Dancehall is Rory’s strength, so without question, the selector received forward after forward for slinging unforgettable tunes and riddims.

Mighty Crown launched “Back to the Hardcore” more than 15 years ago as a platform to educate fans on Reggae and Dancehall music. One night while playing, Sami T was approached by a young audience member who innocently asked “What is the Showtime riddim?” Add a few similar inquiries from young fans to this equation and there spawns “Back to the Hardcore.”

Notably, Sami T pinpointed the need to bridge the generation music gap. “Back to the Hardcore” was typically billed for artists until Rory’s breakout performance this year. In addition to stops in Yokohama and Osaka, “Back to the Hardcore” also made a sold out stop in Nagoya.

Lt. Stitchie, Kaka & Lee Scratch Perry

Over the past few years, Aarhus, a small village in Denmark, has been putting on some of the biggest reggae events in the country. They have hosted the likes of Capleton and Beenie Man in the past and now they’re getting ready for another Jamaican icon; Lt. Stitchie.

This Saturday, February 27^th the Jam Link International team, the company responsible for most of the major reggae events in the city, will be hosting a huge concert called Reggae Link Up. The headlining acts for the show are Jamaica’s legendary reggae/dancehall artist, Lt. Stitchie and one of the biggest names in Denmark’s dancehall, Kaka. Both men will be supported by some of Denmark’s most talented artists, namely: Lappa Luma, Mwakenya and Pearl. The event will take place at one of the city’s major concert venues, Voxhall (located at Vester Allé 15, 8000 Aarhus). Shortly after the Lt. Stitchie concert, Aarhus will see another legend passing through, as Lee Scratch Perry is set to perform at the same venue on April 12^th. Additionally, Aarhus had their first two day reggae festival last year and will be having it again this year.

Jamaican Reggae/Dancehall artist Karamanti will be a guest on the Reggae Ambassadors Radio show today. It is aired on Radio Gold 90.5MHZ in Accra, Ghana from 7PM to 10PM GMT (which is 2PM to 5PM EST). Karamanti will be interviewed by host Prime Eye.

The interviewed was arranged by Karamanti’s agent Adokwei Addo, who is also based in Ghana.

Grammy award-winning Reggae superstar Sean Paul released another hot new track for 2016. On Friday, February 5, Sean Paul and British singer Jay Sean treated fans to the release of their “Make My Love Go” single. Featuring an upbeat house styled tune, the song is sure to be anyone’s party anthem.

Also just announced is another single “Outta Control” that features Yolanda Be Cool and Mayra Veronica and premieres in the Australian and New Zealand markets. Since the beginning of the year Sean Paul set the pace from early with single “Tornado” featuring Nicky B and SynthKartell, which was previously released on Friday, January 29. The artiste starts 2016 with an upbeat momentum, as his recent releases “Never Give Up” and “Give Thanks for Life” videos, have been gaining much popularity.

Europe, which is one Sean Paul’s strongest markets, has contributed greatly to the artist’s success. His 2014 collaboration with Latin music superstar, Enrique Iglesias, on the English version of the single “Bailando” achieved a number 12 spot on the Hot 100 charts in August. To add to the megastar’s catalogue in the European arena, he has in rotation the single “Ebony Eyes,” which features singer A-Klass and produced by popularly known European producer, Rico Bernasconi and Tuklan. The single rose in the top 10 in Italy, Sweden, Holland and Australia.

Sean’s 2015 success has earned him a nomination in the category of “Favourite Local International Artiste of the Year”, for the 2016 Youth View Awards.

The Temperature singer is due to headline the Sean Paul Canadian Full Speed Promo Tour scheduled for March 12-30 after his performance in Las Vegas on March 5. He also recently appeared in Dubai on February 4 after his sold out performance in Chile on January 30.
