New Dancehall Video: “Rolling High” By Nuh Limit Family & UZMAN (@UZMAN1)

On Friday, December 8th, the Nuh Limit Family – a Jamaican based dancehall trio – appeared on Hype TV’s popular program Up & Live to premiere their latest video, Rolling High. The single, which was released earlier this year was done in collaboration with Toronto rap artist, UZMAN.

Shot, edited and directed by SWAG TV’s CEO and owner, Tin Man, the visuals for Rolling High completely compliments the song’s content. As the record is about the endorsement and use of marijuana, the video shows the men at different locations across Jamaica, hanging out, smoking and generally having a good time.

Friday, December 15th will see a slew of top-tier reggae / dancehall artists converging in Buff Bay, Portland, Jamaica. This is all in honor of Mr. Portland aka Daryl Vaz’s birthday celebration. Confirmed acts includes: Bounty Killer, Romaine Virgo, Ken Boothe, Bugle, Louie Culture, I-Wayne and that is just to name a few. Musical juggling will be provided by Swatch International and Lil Richie.

It all goes down at the Lynch Park in Buff Bay. Admission is free and all are invited.

rolling high behind the scenes video shoot Earlier this year, popular Canadian rap artist UZMAN joined forces with Jamaican dancehall group Nuh Limit Family to record and release a single titled “Rolling High.” Though it’s a typical weed song, “Rolling High” got a lot of attention early on because it was released during a time when the legalization and open use of marijuana was an ongoing topic in both Jamaica and North America.

Fast forward to approximately nine months later and the song is now getting steady rotation on some of the biggest dancehall radio shows on the island. As a result of its increasing popularity, UZMAN and the Nuh Limit Family recently got together to shoot the official video, which will be shared publicly on December 11^th.

Jamaican Reggae/Dancehall Artists Demanding Too Much

money As a booking agent, I have been noticing a trend that I think needs to be addressed. A lot of, if not all, Jamaican reggae and dancehall artists seem to be pricing themselves out of the market.

I do bookings for a few events in Europe. Because I know that most reggae/dancehall acts look to that region for work, I always try to seek out Jamaican talent (both established and emerging) to try to get them on my shows. Sadly, their requirements have got so out of hand that I find myself hiring mostly UK and African entertainers.

Reggae and dancehall music is now being produced all over the world. Therefore, the industry is more competitive. Investors and promoters are no longer just looking to Jamaica for these genres. Granted, Jamaica is still considered the home/leader in the reggae/dancehall field, but artists must realize that if their fees and entourage are too burdensome, promoters will look elsewhere.

Expecting a promoter to hire and pay you €2,000 and up, plus fly you, your manager and someone else, when you have no hit and, therefore, cannot bring out the crowd, is ridiculous.

I hope I have not offended anyone with this article, but I am currently in the process of booking for two upcoming events in that territory, and the requests I am getting are so far gone that I had to write this.

Aidonia Govana Though they have no professional expertise in meteorology, 4th Genna recording artistes Aidonia and Govana have issued an advisory to the entertainment fraternity to expect some strong ‘Breeze’ this Christmas.

The forewarning comes in the wake of a whirlwind performance at the finale of UWI Integration Thursdays bolstered by their newly released single ‘Breeze,’ a collaborative effort that has taken the FM airwaves and social scene by storm. Produced on the 4th Genna Music/J.O.P imprint the hyper-masculine track has been dubbed a solid follow-up to their 2012 effort ‘Run Road’ with its jocular groove and overkill of witty lyricism.

Currently saturating the space with tracks like Fire, Yeah Yeah, Hot Tool, Gyal Clown, Shallow Grung and Loco both deejays says this is something the fans have been requesting for some time now.

Lt. Stitchie Talks About His Upcoming Collaboration With Agent Sasco, Fantan Mojah, Lukie D and Others

As 2017 rapidly comes to an end, Lt. Stitchie and his team are consistently working on positioning themselves for the new-year. The reason for this, being that in early 2018 Lt. Stitchie will be releasing his brand new album, a project that he says is his best work to date.

Done in alliance with French producer Manudigital, the new record will feature a slew of noteworthy collaborations, namely: Agent Sasco, Fantan Mojah, Million Stylez, Lukie D and Ricky Stereo. The 2017 Aarhus Xmas Reggae Splash Takes Place On December 16th

Jam Link International presents the 2017 Aarhus Xmas Reggae Splash on Saturday, December 16^th at CasaV58 (Vestergade 58, Aarhus C).

As this is their final event for 2017, the Jam Link Intl. team will be ending the year with a bang. They have invited UK based reggae/dancehall artist, Shanti Force to headline, alongside Aarhus’ own Lappa Luma. Music will be provided by some of the best selectors and selectress in Denmark, namely: Ida-I, Riddim Fex, Tiger Moth, DJ Black Sheep and MC Kojo. Just added to the lineup is Jamaican dancehall dancer, Rifical Gage.

The Aarhus Xmas Reggae Splash starts at 23:00 and goes until 04:30. Entrance cost is 60 DK. MJ Magazine is pleased to be an official sponsor alongside The Aarhus Kommune.
