On Friday, June 26th, Science Genius Jamaica will be hosting a songwriting session on Zoom and they have invited some musical giants to partake.
The session will feature: Wayne Marshall, Mikie Bennett, Marvin Hall and Tanya Stephens; with hosts Dr. Renée Rattray and Prof. Chris Emdin.
The organizers are encouraging all primary and high school students and teachers to tune in at 3:00 PM (JA time). Meeting ID number is: 859-6753-3597 and the password is: 312459.
On June 11th, Buju Banton dropped the lyric video for the song “Blessed,” track number four (4) on his upcoming album “Upside Down.” “Blessed” is a hardcore dancehall record on which Buju makes clear his current status, that’s a result of his many blessings.

A few days ago Breaking Expectations and J-Rod Records released a powerful dancehall single titled “Mother Nature.” The song, which is a collaborative effort, is performed by both Julian Marley and Junior Reid.

Billboard & MTV award winning dancehall artist, Elephant Man, has delivered what many are calling a much needed bright light in a dark time. His latest single, titled “Prayer,” calls on Jamaicans to pray for things to get better. He laments on the need for peace nationwide, while highlighting some of the changes he wants to see.
The song, which is on the Epik Music Group label, went live on all digital music platforms earlier today (June 19th).
“Upside Down,” the highly anticipated album from Buju Banton, will be officially released on June 26th, 2020. A few days ago the project went live, but only for pre-order on selected platforms. That being said, on the 26th it will be available on all music sites.
Towards the end of 2019 Natural High Music released a strong single titled “Cane Fields,” performed by Wayne Marshall, Kabaka Pyramid and Jesse Royal. A few hours ago they shared the official video which is even more powerful than the song itself.

There has been a buzz about the 2020 Jamaica Festival Song Competition for some time now. The rumor was that several veteran artists, namely: Toots Hibbert, Buju Banton, LUST, Papa Michigan and Freddie McGregor, have all submitted songs and are in the running to be this year’s winner.
Though we’ve been hearing the chatter we were reluctant to say anything until we knew for sure that there was some truth to it. Today we can say that the story is indeed accurate. On Wednesday the Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia Grange, announced that all the aforementioned artists are among the finalists.
