Lady G Reclaims Her Position In Dancehall!

There has been a lot of talk over the past few years regarding the state of dancehall music. Critics have been concerned about the degrading lyrical content from both the trending male and female artists in the genre.

With that being said, it’s a blessing to see veteran female recording artist Lady G back on the scene! For a while now Lady G has been dropping singles on and off, popping up for an interview here and there; but what confirms this come back is her consistency in recent months.

In 2019 Lady G released her debut EP titled “Smile 2.0,” dropped the hit single “Nah Sell Out Me Soul, and embarked on a mini Euro tour. She carried that momentum into 2020 by delivering a solid set at Rebel Salute and now winning a JaRIA Awards.

Sizzla Kalonji’s Birthday Party & Bike Show – April 19th

On Sunday, April 19th, Sizzla Kalonji will be having his birthday party at the Gee Wee Car Park (10A Caledonia Avenue) in Kingston, Jamaica. The event will also double as a bike show, featuring several bike crews.

Music will be provided by King Tafari Sound System, with host Hype Type. There is an admission fee of $1,000 JMD.

Blakkwuman22 Music Invites All Lyricists To Its New Open Mic Event In Kingston (@Blakkwuman22)

After two successful staging of the event dubbed ‘Our Ting Our Way,’ the organizer, Blakkwuman22 Music, has decided to make it a weekly occurrence. It will now take place every Friday from 7 PM to midnight at 321 1/2 Molynes Road (at the foot of Red Hills, next to the gas station) in Kingston, Jamaica.

Our Ting Our Way‘ is basically a gathering of artists, predominantly lyricists, capable of exciting an audience with his or her lyrical prowess. They get together in a small venue and trade bars (lyrics) over various tracks.

Spragga Benz fans in Jamaica are excited, as the artist has made a return to the local scene, doing more shows and interviews on the island.

This Saturday, February 29th, he is expected to be at the Hope Royal Botanical Gardens (located at 231 Old Hope Road) in Kingston, for a performance. The event is scheduled to start at 7:00 PM.

Beenie Man Among 14 International Performers For This Year’s Picnic Festival In Costa Rica (@kingbeenieman)

2020 is the sixth consecutive year of the Picnic Festival in Costa Rica. The event will feature approximately 32 artists, 14 of which are international. Jamaican dancehall king Beenie Man has been added to the lineup and is one of this year’s headliners.

The festival will be held on February 29th at Centro De Eventos Pedregal (Pedregal, Heredia) in Costa Rica.
