Buju Banton Among Artists Confirmed For BET’s Covid-19 Relief Efforts Tonight (@bujubanton @BET)

As the corona virus continue to disproportionately affect those in black communities across the U.S., BET will host a relief effort concert tonight (8/7C) to raise funds for the most needy.

They are calling the event ‘Saving Ourselves‘ and it will feature a slew of entertainers from all genres. Among them will be Jamaican reggae-dancehall star Buju Banton.

Jah Mason & Queen Omega Collaborates On New Single “Time Is Now”

On Friday, April 17th, Trini reggae artist, Queen Omega, shared her latest contribution to the reggae-dancehall industry; a new single titled “Time Is Now,” done with Jamaican veteran chanter, Jah Mason.

When we first learned that these two had a collaboration coming out we were sure that it would be a roots reggae track. To our surprise, “Time Is Now” is a hardcore dancehall record with a strong message.

Lyme Inside With Ding Dong This Friday (@dingdongravers1)

On Friday, April 24th, Guardian Group will present a live IG event called ‘Let’s Lyme Inside.’ Trending artist and dancer Ding Dong is confirmed as the headline act. He will be accompanied by members of his Ravers crew, and supported by both DJ Rebirth and DJ Nico.

Earlier today the In.Digg.Nation team released the official video for Lila Iké‘s new song “I Spy.” The track is the first published single emerging from the deal between RCA Records and the In.Digg.Nation Collective.

Marion Hall (Formerly Lady Saw) Re-enters The Dancehall (@WayneStoddart @MinisterMarion)

Minister Marion Hall, who used to be called Lady Saw and was the raining queen of the dancehall, has re-entered the genre, this time as a gospel artist. Hall collaborated with Florida singer Wayne Stoddart on a new single titled Jesus Junkie.

On the record both artists lament about their love for Jesus on top of a bouncy hardcore rhythm. The song was produced by Clifton “Johnny” Clarke and Aston Barrett, and it’s on the Undiluted Muzik label.

On Sunday, April 19th, Digicel will present the legends of dancehall, Bounty Killer and Beenie Man, on their Unplugged series.

The event, which will begin at 5 PM (local time), will stream live via Digicel’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram profiles.

Jamaica’s six-hour virtual telethon, held on Sunday, April 12th, which was conceived to raise money to fight covid19 on the island, has generated more than 50 million JMD.

This event saw performances from several of the nation’s biggest artists, as well appearances by many high ranking public figures.

The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports, Ms. Olivia Grange, has announced that the telethon will be rotated to cater to the Asian and European time zones. The hope is to continue to raise funds via the website: jatogetherwestand dot com.
