Although Tarrus Riley has been busy releasing a lot of dancehall records of late, it is his new reggae single, “Be Great,” done on the “21 Greatness Riddim,” that is garnering all the attention! It seems many of his fans prefer the positive reggae vibe he delivered on this track. The “21 Greatness Riddim,” which also features legendary saxophonist Dean Fraser, is produced by The Notorious KOOL G for his label Innovation Muzik; an imprint he co-owns with Selector Matches.
The official video for “Be Great” premiered on YouTube this past Friday, March 12th. It tells the story of a young Jamaican boy whose only aspiration is to become a track and field star like Usain Bolt. It goes on to show him admiring pictures of his heroes as he trains daily, while getting support from his struggling mother. These images are complimented by clips of Tarrus Riley singing “Be Great.”
While there is huge anticipation for the release of the “21 Greatness Riddim,”Tarrus Riley‘s single continues to pick up steam in the United States, England, Jamaica and the rest of the world. Its momentum is especially growing in the UK where it is now getting steady rotation on both commercial and digital radio. That being said, many who have heard “Be Great” are now eager to hear what Queen Ifrica, Luciano, Nature Ellis, Gott-Yo and all the other artists tapped for the project will do on it.
